Kyle Sandilands reacts to outgoing ABC star Sammy J’s savage swipe: ‘What a deluded flog’
As a devoted fan with over two decades of experiencing the rollercoaster world of radio, I can’t help but be utterly fascinated by this ongoing saga between Kyle Sandilands and Sammy J. It’s like watching two heavyweights trading blows, each trying to outdo the other in wit and humor.
Kyle Sandilands retaliated against comedian Sammy J following his sharp critique of Kyle.
Last week, Sammy J, who recently announced his departure from ABC Radio Melbourne, utilized X to poke fun at Kyle following his ABC program surpassing The Kyle and Jackie O Show in the Melbourne radio rating charts.
Today, in our final rankings, I once more outperformed Kyle, as Samuel Jonathan McMillan, the radio personality, shared.
Essentially, my presence will always dwell within him unpaid. He considers me as the white whale, a persistent challenge for him; his tormentor, an unwelcome sight that lingers in his mind both at the end of the day and the beginning of another.
‘When he strolls on the beach at night, the wind will whisper “Sammy J,”‘ he quipped.
Last week, the Kyle & Jackie O show experienced a minor decrease in their GFK radio ratings in Melbourne, which meant they finished below their predecessor for that week.
On Monday, Kyle strongly objected to Sammy’s remarks, asserting that he had never come across or knew about his radio counterpart.
At the ABC in Melbourne, there’s an individual who recently left his position. However, during his time, he made some peculiar statements such as: “I defeated Kyle Sandilands,” and: “He often thinks of me first.” These remarks were made by Kyle himself on the Kyle & Jackie O Show, as discussed on Monday.
“I’ve never encountered this person before, yet he assumes we’re connected mentally. How misguided! I’m still unaware of your identity.
In Kyle’s ongoing speech, he mentioned, ‘When Kyle strolls along the beach, it seems like he always has me on his mind. I told him, “Dude, nobody even knows who you really are.”‘
Based on Sammy’s exact words, Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, one of Kyle’s co-hosts, suggested that the comedian was merely joking. However, Kyle didn’t find this explanation convincing at all.
‘Jackie, He is from the ABC. They don’t joke.’
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I concur with my own assessment about that sledge – it truly is an impressive piece of equipment! This consensus was echoed by both my manager and the director of The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Bruno Bouchet.
‘You’re 100 per cent right,’ Bruno said.
In a more relaxed phrasing, the statement could be: ‘The ABC tends to speak in a formal and serious manner, as making jokes is not part of their guidelines.’
Later on, Kyle extended his heartfelt congratulations to Sammy, while also subtly expressing his disagreements with his competitor and the ABC in a slightly indirect manner.
‘Anyway well done to him for winning, Not that anyone give a s**t,’ Kyle said.
“Why are we, the taxpayers, compelled to fund a radio program without commercials just so it can participate in a study? I don’t understand why we’re required to pay for this.
It’s not the first time that Sammy has sledged Kyle and Jackie O.
Previously in August, the hosts at ABC made fun of the duo when they ended up in fifth place during this month’s poll. However, it seems that comedian Sammy J saw an improvement in viewership for his morning program on ABC.
In August, the well-known humorist couldn’t help but show off his win by posting something that poked fun at the Kyle and Jackie O Show’s fondness for explicit material, which had previously caused a stir.
Sammy expressed on his Instagram story that the many months spent querying his ABC audience about a particular action had proven worthwhile, he said.
It seemed like the joking comment he made, aimed at his competitors, was a clear allusion to a statement Sandilands made during his debut on Melbourne’s radio airwaves in April.
At the show, Jackie openly declared that she was free from Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) prior to Kyle delving into her views regarding anal sexual activity.
The 52-year-old, meanwhile, introduced himself as an ‘ex F-boy, coke-sniffing a**hole.’
Sammy, the longtime host of ABC Radio Melbourne Breakfast prior to the pandemic, expressed his departure with a sense of pride and appreciation.
Sammy J commented, “Hosting the breakfast in Melbourne turned out to be a delightful surprise I hadn’t anticipated.
As a devoted devotee, I wholeheartedly affirm that radio requires our full commitment and warrants no compromise. After five years, I am prepared to exchange my 4:15 am wake-up call for a schedule with more predictability.
I depart with a sense of honor, thankfulness, and the promise of unveiling various instances of pay-for-praise controversies as time goes on.
