The final story chapter for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 came out on Tuesday, bringing the game’s main narrative to a close. While the developers may add more content through larger updates later on, many players have been disappointed with the new ‘Mysteria Ecclesiae’ expansion, finding it significantly weaker than previous DLCs.
The newest downloadable content for the Czech RPG has garnered over 350 Steam reviews, but only 63% of players recommend it. This gives Mysteria Ecclesiae a “mixed” rating overall. Many players are disappointed with the third expansion, hoping for a more conclusive ending to the game’s story.
Players generally agree the downloadable content isn’t bad, but it doesn’t offer enough for its $14 price tag, and some of it is frustrating. The ‘Mysteria Ecclesiae’ DLC is quite short and its story isn’t very captivating. It also requires constant sneaking and doesn’t allow for much flexibility in how you complete objectives, punishing players who try different approaches.
Players are disappointed with the new downloadable content, describing it as containing only a handful of quests, a single sword, and some potions. They feel it’s even less substantial than the first expansion for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, ‘Brushes with Death,’ which at least added a shield customization feature. That initial DLC, costing $6, received only 63% positive reviews on Steam and didn’t make a strong impression when it was released in May.

A lot of players feel the newest expansion isn’t as exciting as earlier ones, or even the original game. Interestingly, after the release of Mysteria Ecclesiae, many have started to enjoy the second DLC, Legacy of the Forge (which costs $14), and now consider it the most captivating expansion, even though it only has a 66% positive rating on Steam.
If the developers add free, engaging content, players might feel less disappointed with the recent downloadable content for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
