Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 VAs Accuse People Of Using Game As “A Weapon”
Summary
- Despite controversy over a gay romance scene, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s success remains intact.
- Voice actors believe critics of the scene are not true gamers but politically involved individuals.
- The scene’s impact is deemed minimal by the actors, who view it as a non-issue among gaming fans.
Despite an impressive debut that catapulted it among the top ten best-selling single-player games on Steam, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has been embroiled in debate and contention.
Before its launch, the game found itself in the midst of the ongoing cultural dispute. The lead writer and director, Daniel Vávra, faced criticism due to a solitary, optional scene that portrayed a gay romance. However, fortunately for Warhorse Studios, this didn’t impact their pre-orders or player base.
After nine long years immersed in crafting the epic narrative for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, voice actors Tom McKay and Luke Dale have shared their thoughts on a recent controversy. They believe that those who find certain scenes objectionable are primarily engaged with politics, rather than being avid gamers at heart.

During an interview with the BBC, Dale referred to the situation as “a rather intriguing development” and expressed that there has been some pushback from conservative mindsets this time.
They believe that the individuals creating a fuss over the gay romance scene in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s representation are not typical of the general population, and the uproar around it serves as a valuable indicator of the disparity between online discourse and actual real-life interactions.
Dale mentions: “In my opinion, I believe die-hard gamers and those who love this specific game don’t care much about such details.
They’ve just used this as a weapon, but they’re not necessarily into gaming.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that it appears some individuals are deeply invested in politics rather than gaming. They seem to wield their political passions as a tool, but their true interest might not lie within the realm of video games.
Regardless of Dale and McKay stating that the situation was entirely insignificant, having spent nine hours together without it being mentioned, their remarks are likely to fan the embers yet again.
