After finishing both “Via Argentum” and “The Thieves’ Code” within Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, a messenger from the Thieves’ Guild encounters you on the road, requesting that Henry make his way back to the Hole in the Wall tavern located in Kuttenberg. This sets off The Spark side quest.
In “The Spark,” Henry’s decisions determine the outcome of two distinct conclusions. Moreover, there is a concealed accomplishment that necessitates Henry’s… passing away. Hereafter, you will find a comprehensive guide detailing all potential scenarios for this quest.
Triggering The Quest

To initiate “The Spark”, Henry’s swift travel is disrupted by a guild messenger. This occurs exclusively after finishing both “Via Argentum” and “The Thieves’ Code”. There are no specific places to go – this event happens at random. In my initial playthrough, it took 3 days of wandering; in the second, it took a week. Regardless, slip on your preferred pair of boots and keep using the fast-travel feature until the messenger appears, instructing Henry to the “Hole in the Wall”.
The Mission Of The Day

Chenyek is often seen at his favorite hangout, the tavern. If you approach him for a chat, he’ll reveal his scheme to disrupt Sigismund’s activities by eliminating their silver source. His intention is to detonate the mine that the king heavily depends on for its rich silver deposits.
Siding With Knuckles Or Chenyek

Similar to past missions involving the Thieves’ Guild, conversing with Knuckles following your chat with Chenyek presents an alternate course of action. In this instance, their philosophical disagreements have escalated significantly, leading Knuckles to request that Henry eliminate Chenyek.
Completing The Spark mission is possible for both Knuckles and Chenyek, but the route for Knuckles is tougher and yields significantly less of the total reward.
If you choose to align with Knuckles, it’s advisable to strike against Chenyek when he’s unaccompanied, preferably during the night inside a tavern room. During other times, his presence of companions might alert the guards!
If Henry decides to support Chenyek, it would be wise to alert him and opt to eliminate Knuckles early in the mission. It’s best to attack Chenyek during nighttime when you can quietly eliminate Knuckles without detection. This will result in extra dialogue from Chenyek, and guarantees a more seamless conclusion to the quest.
Where To Find Black Powder

Regardless of your decisions, your journey eventually leads you to Eldris the Gunmaker. His workshop is situated south of the tavern. If you’d like to gather more information from him, there are opportunities for conversation checks using Bribery or Intimidation as simpler options. Despite your approach, Eldris informs you that he doesn’t possess the powder you need himself. However, he can guide you towards his rival who is located outside of town instead…

As Henry journeys northward from the city, he encounters a band of men congregated around a wagon. The group’s chief, known as Whisker, proposes to sell him black powder. If Henry doesn’t have the necessary Groschen, he faces two choices: engage in a fight or attempt to sneakily pilfer it. In my initial playthrough, I opted for violence, as my thieving instincts grew too strong and I was curious about their possessions. However, in the end, I decided to reload the game and purchase the keg instead, since that seemed like the most straightforward solution.
To uphold the law and be a responsible citizen, go ahead and inform Bailiff Plümel about the thieves’ guild, which is related to your Civic Duty task. However, if you decide to support the guards in this situation, it will prevent you from finishing The Spark quest.
Oh Me, Oh Mine

After securing the dark gunpowder barrel, make your way to Grund where you’ll encounter Goliath and other members of the thieves’ guild. Chat with Goliath, and he’ll outline his strategy: his team will create a diversion by igniting a fire to confuse the guards while he guides you to the mine. Upon arrival, you will sneak in and place the explosives. Wait till nightfall before initiating the operation.
In some medieval societies, arson was considered on par with murder.
Silly Secret Achievement

Instead of placing Goliath inside the mine, you have the option to eliminate him. Why would you choose that? To unlock a secret achievement, obviously! With Goliath gone, you can retrieve your barrel and return it to the earlier gathering point where a “Throw the barrel into the fire” instruction will appear. You could, indeed, throw your explosive barrel towards the blazing fires right in front of you. The outcome is quite foreseeable. However, you will receive a trophy that can’t be obtained again once missed!
Destroying The Silver Mine

If Henry decides on survival after a swift reload, Goliath will direct you towards the mines. At a crossroads, opt for the path on the right. Continue venturing inward until you spot a wooden beam with a cloth draped over it. Interacting with the ground here allows you to position the keg. After setting off the explosives, make sure to flee swiftly. You’ll have approximately two minutes to get away; simply retrace your steps and turn left at the fork, then follow the tunnels until you reach the exit.

No matter how swiftly you flee, Henry will have his getaway halted by the impact of the explosion’s wave. But don’t fret! This is all part of the script, so there’s no need to worry about death. Your longtime friend Goliath is there to rescue you, pulling you from the mine. Sadly, just as you manage to escape the mine, a contingent of guards intercepts your flight.

In the current situation, it’s highly unlikely that you can convince Henry, given he’s caked in dirt from the explosion. Instead, I decided to display my sword to the guards, signaling that black powder wasn’t their only cause for concern. Admittedly, my motive wasn’t so much disapproval of their corrupt rule under Sigismund and Wenceslas as it was a chance to sell some valuable loot they had. To be honest, I had recently squandered some money on black powder and was hoping to recoup my losses with this transaction.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed something unusual. If I had taken out Knuckles earlier in our quest, there were no guards appearing here later on. This seems to hint that maybe Knuckles isn’t as loyal to the guild as we thought.
No Honor Among Thieves?

Following your encounter with the guards, you might find some things conspicuously absent – perhaps your boots, or even some coins. It turns out that Goliath had stolen from you while transporting your unconscious body out of the tunnels. If you want to retrieve your belongings, you should trail Goliath as the guild members flee. The most effective strategy would be to bide your time until they disperse, and then surprise him by knocking him out at dusk.
Payday

All that remains is to head back to the Hole in the Wall to claim your prize. If you choose Chenyek and Knuckles is still alive, Knuckles will acknowledge that his deceitful days are behind him because his family is looking after him. Chenyek will then raise a toast to Henry, who’s been quite filthy lately, and hand over 150 Groschen. If you supported Knuckles instead, he’ll be equally grateful for your assistance, but only gives you 60 Groschen in return.
The original text has been simplified slightly and made more conversational to make it easier for the reader to understand.
Either way, The Spark ends with Henry richer—but perhaps a little worse for wear.
