Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Players Accidentally Delete Saves
Summary
- The latest patch for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 moved the “New Game” option in the pause menu.
- This has led to players accidentally deleting playthroughs while trying to save the game.
- Despite the positive reception of the update, players are frustrated by unintentionally deleting their playthroughs due to muscle memory.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 players are experiencing a massive issue with the new patch, which is having dire consequences for their playthrough. This new Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 problem is one fans should stay wary of until Warhorse Studios addresses it further.
Despite the issue players are having, the new Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 update has largely been very well received. The highlight addition was the barber feature, which allows Henry to change his hairstyle and beard for the first time. It also makes a massive number of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, adding a new layer of polish to the Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 experience. However, one quality-of-life change hasn’t entirely worked as intended.
Prior to the new patch, the first option on Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s pause menu was “New Game.” This led to a small number of players deleting their saves by accident, which Warhorse Studios decided to address in the update. To solve the issue, the “New Game” button was moved down to the second option, which was previously occupied by “Save Game.” However, many gamers mid-playthrough had already gotten used to saving in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 via the pause menu, developing muscle memory for this process. This has unintentionally led to many players accidentally deleting their playthroughs while trying to save the game after the new patch, resulting in understandable frustration.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Players Are Accidentally Deleting Their Own Saves After the New Update
There are plenty of reports of this happening online, although some players have pointed out that actually deleting the save games is a multistep process that is pretty easily avoided. Regardless, this doesn’t matter, as many players will be attempting to save on muscle memory alone, and not necessarily expecting the “New Game” option to be where it has been moved to. It’s fair to see both sides of the argument – while players should pay attention while saving, the expectation has already been set by Warhorse Studios about where to find options in the pause menu. If some players find that starting a new playthrough in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and deleting old files is now too easy, then it should probably be addressed.
Although Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s first major update is out of the way, there’s still plenty more to come from the game. Three pieces of DLC have already been confirmed for 2025, while Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Hardcore mode is also on the way at some point in the future. This will give the game a ton of replayability, ensuring it’s relevant for a long time yet.
