Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has a secret dark ending for Bohemia’s worst criminals

Last week, Morgan Park from PC Gamer shared an account about the perils of living a criminal life in the hypothetical Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. In this game, his character wore a noticeable brand that didn’t exactly boost his popularity among locals. He was also cautioned that if he persisted with his rude behavior, there could be dire consequences—and it appears those warnings were no jest. The threat of execution turned out to be genuine in the story.

A video posted by Niktek on X (through GamesRadar) shows the consequences for players who choose to be evil, and it’s not a pleasant sight. Although the nature of his crimes isn’t explicitly mentioned, it’s clear they are serious: A local police officer tells Henry he’s overstepped a boundary, and Henry, possibly weary from the burden of living in this cruel world, gives up quietly. The scene shifts to show Henry behind bars, where it seems he may be reconsidering his actions, before being escorted through a jeering crowd that appears unusually eager to witness his execution.

With a mournful tune playing in the background, he ascends towards the gallows and settles on the chopping block. Above him, birds soar; Henry grips his fists tightly and shuts his eyes as the music ends, and the town leader instructs the executioner to carry out the task. And then, ka-snap! Henry transforms into Bohemia’s latest wind chime. The screen goes dark for a moment, followed swiftly by a game over screen: “You have been sentenced for your wrongdoings.

Capital punishment may not be appealing, but it’s satisfying that Warhorse Studios has crafted a genuine, unvarnished ending for Henry’s tale – without resorting to scripted escapes or on-screen messages informing players he served six months in prison and is now regretful of his actions. His story is concluded permanently, and while reloading may return you to the living world, you’ll need a new strategy for whatever predicament you found yourself in before this turn of events.

In some games like Far Cry 4, it’s possible to reach an unexpectedly quick conclusion, although this is not common. For instance, you can complete Far Cry 4 in just 15 minutes if you wait for Pagan Min to return to the dinner table, a trick that was quite famous and Ubisoft incorporated a similar fast-paced ending in Far Cry 5 as well. Similarly, Far Cry 6 offers an early ending, but it takes several hours instead of a few minutes to get there. In Baldur’s Gate 3, you can finish the game sooner than anticipated, and if you choose a specific path in the Phantom Liberty expansion of Cyberpunk 2077, you can skip a significant portion of the game.

Similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, these finishes stand out because developers meticulously designed a genuine game-ending sequence that isn’t typically included. Unlike using shortcuts or unintended knowledge, you experience an authentic and fitting conclusion. However, it’s worth noting that this ending is particularly challenging or undesirable.
