Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Fans Don’t Think It Should Be On BAFTA’s Most Influential Video Games List

Summary

  • BAFTA listed 21 Most Influential Video Games Of All Time, including Doom, GTA, and Tetris.
  • Even Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 fans don’t think it should have made the list.
  • Henry is hungry.

BAFTA has unveiled a prestigious roster of Video Games That Have Left an Indelible Impact on the Industry, compiled through a popular vote. These 21 groundbreaking titles have individually contributed to the evolution and progression of video games as we know them today, which is evident in their inclusion on this list. It’s not hard to understand why classics like Doom, GTA, Super Mario Bros., and Tetris found a place here.

Some games on the list leave gamers perplexed, and among them, Shenmue stands out as one with a dedicated fanbase, but questionable claim to being the most impactful game in history. Yet, an even more intriguing case is that of a game which was just released and barely had time to make its mark on anything.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Fans Are Confused By Its Inclusion In The BAFTA List

On the Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 subreddit, Luke Dale, our very own Hans Capon actor, posted something that got many fellow gamers nodding in agreement – it’s too soon to include this fantastic game on a list of all-time industry influencers. Although I’ve been thoroughly engrossed in its immersive world myself, it hasn’t quite left the same mark on the gaming landscape as games like GTA or Dark Souls have over time.

One comment stated something like this: “Being ranked 7th in terms of influence is quite surprising, considering that games such as Halo, Mario, Zelda, Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, Fortnite, CS, League of Legends, and World of Warcraft are all more influential. In fact, there are many others even beyond these.

One individual commented, “I believe they’re mixing up quality with impact. KCD2 is a more finely crafted game than most of the games you mentioned, but will it be as iconic or influential as GTA or Minecraft in 50 years? Does it significantly alter the gaming world like Minecraft and Mario did? Not likely.

Based on my personal observations, I can confidently say that the fanbase of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is incredibly passionate about the game. They enthusiastically support any mention of the game and express joy even for minor acknowledgements. However, if members of the community question how the game ended up on this list, it suggests there may be some discrepancies or uncertainties.

Based on the poll used to compile the list, it appears that people primarily voted for their favorite recently played game. If this were a list ranking the best recent games, King’s Bounty 2 would undoubtedly receive my vote too. As for its impact so far, it has mainly sparked a strong desire in me to purchase an entire set of medieval armor.
