After 13 years of marriage, Keira Knightley’s husband has been seen without his wedding ring. This comes shortly after reports surfaced that the actress has removed her husband’s last name from official records.

James Righton, who used to sing for the band Klaxons, was seen without his wedding ring. He’s been wearing the gold band since he married his wife in the South of France in 2013.

A 42-year-old man named James, looking serious, rode his bike through North London. He was wearing a bright plaid jacket and a baseball cap that jokingly said, ‘I don’t work here,’ and stopped to chat enthusiastically with a friend.

The couple, parents to daughters Edie, age ten, and Delilah, age six, were last seen together publicly at London Fashion Week in February 2026.

Rumors began in February that Keira, 41, and her husband might be having trouble, after reports surfaced that she had removed his last name from official paperwork.

The issues involve KCK Boo Ltd, her performing arts company, which held over £11 million in assets according to its most recent financial records.

Keira shared that she spent a lot of time thinking it over before legally changing her last name in 2021 – eight years after she got married.

In 2014, she discussed taking her husband’s last name, explaining that she considered it when applying for a passport, thinking it might be useful to do so.

I realized I needed to see it in writing, but I wasn’t able to bring myself to do it—not yet.

Keira exchanged vows with James in France in 2013. 

The actress announced in December that she had sold the French vineyard where she and James were married, explaining it was challenging to maintain the property and their shared dream.

The couple owned a vineyard called Les Cinq Puits, which means ‘the five wells’ in French. The name came from the five natural springs on the property where they made their wine. Located near Mont Ventoux in the Rhone Valley, they fully embraced the methods of crafting wine on a small scale.

This property held a special meaning for her because she and James got married there in 2013. They had first met two years earlier, at a dinner party in London hosted by a friend they both knew.

The couple had a small, private wedding with family and close friends, including actress Sienna Miller. The bride wore a stunning ivory Chanel dress and jacket.

The couple generally prefers to keep their personal life private, but Keira has occasionally shared stories about the challenges of a long-term relationship. On their tenth wedding anniversary, she jokingly said it was ‘a miracle’ they’d stayed together for so long.

In a recent interview last December, Keira shared that early in their relationship, she gave her husband a firm choice regarding some unusual behaviors he had.

The actress explained she had to teach him about healthy eating, describing his diet as if he were a child.

In a conversation on the Waitrose podcast Dish with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, she shared a story about getting a friend to help her encourage James to try different foods.

Honestly, Keira and I just weren’t a match. It wasn’t anything major, but he really couldn’t cook – seriously, cheese on toast was all he ate! I knew right away it wasn’t going to work out. It just felt… unsustainable, you know?

‘He wouldn’t even go out for dinner. He didn’t understand going to restaurants. He was bizarre.’

Keira explained how she made him try new foods with his eyes shut as she ‘trained’ him.

She continued: ‘My oldest friend is a proper old-school bon viveur, we basically trained him.

He was incredibly picky when we went out to eat, almost like a little kid. He’d often close his eyes and refuse to taste anything, and we’d keep encouraging him to just try a bite.

‘He’d be like “OK, it’s nice, it’s nice!”‘
