Kate Winslet weighs in on the ‘can women can have it all?’ debate

Kate Winslet weighs in on the 'can women can have it all?' debate

As a dedicated follower of the enchanting world of cinema and the captivating lives of its stars, I find myself deeply inspired by Kate Winslet‘s thoughtful words and wise insights into self-care, mental wellness, and the importance of using one’s voice for good.

She’s not who you’d expect to see in the aisles of your local Tesco…

Indeed, it seems that shopping will no longer be an option for you, as Kate Winslet finds it excessively stressful.

The actress, aged 48, shared with Harper’s Bazaar magazine that she has lately chosen to stop visiting retail stores.

I find them overwhelming. Typically, anything new that enters my life either arrives unexpectedly, like a surprise, or it’s an item of clothing that my son no longer wants to use, often a large jacket.

The 48-year-old actress added her perspective to the well-known discussion by questioning how she manages her private and career life. (or)

She explained: ‘Self-care for me means just having time to just simply be, and having the time to be kind to myself.

In our daily lives as women, we strive to maintain a fast-paced rhythm, and it can be disheartening if we haven’t found time for activities like exercise, walking the dog for an extended period, or attending every sports event, school drop-offs, and pick-ups.

It’s become crucial for me to realize my limitations, understanding that I may not be able to accomplish everything on the list – this self-compassion is growing more significant.

Kate, the mother of Mia Threapleton (age 23), Joe Mendes (age 20), and Bear (age 10), mentioned: ‘Frequently, I experience my highest sense of beauty when I simply unwind. I’m striving to find more ways to relax regularly.’

Kate Wesson also subscribes to the same philosophy as her close companion, Emma Thompson. She recounted how Emma had given her advice that left an indelible mark on her.

In my youth, she advised me, “Sweetheart, always strive for quality work, yet be mindful not to overwork.” A lesson I’ve carried with me ever since, Kate shared.

The Oscar-winning star also spoke about how she treats her physical and mental wellbeing on equal par.

She explained: ‘Women get more beautiful as they get older. Our faces become more of who we are, they sit better on our bone structure, they have more life, more history.

‘Things I find incredibly beautiful are wrinkles around the eyes, the backs of hands.

Additionally, I’ve come to understand that self-care isn’t just about physical health – it extends to emotional wellbeing too. It involves how you feel about yourself, your sense of self-worth, your inner peace, living authentically, and maintaining a positive outlook in life.

Based on my personal experiences, I firmly believe that certain aspects hold significant value and tend to manifest both physically and emotionally. To me, beauty is not merely about external appearances, but rather an inner feeling that resonates deeply within us. Over time, I’ve learned that true beauty often shines through a person’s character, actions, and the positive impact they have on others’ lives. This perspective has helped me appreciate people for who they truly are and find beauty in the world around me.

Throughout the years, what mattered significantly to Kate has been embracing herself fully and utilizing her voice to address any form of injustice she encountered.

Kate reasoned: ‘We become more accepting of who we are and how our bodies and faces change, and how we learn from the lessons of life. We have to become more accepting of ourselves and other people.

Initially, there weren’t many opportunities for women to express their views or fight for themselves as they do today.

As a die-hard fan, I must confess that I felt reluctant to express any discomfort or concerns, for fear it might come off as whining or complaining. Instead, I chose to embrace everything wholeheartedly, hoping for the best.

Over the past decade, especially following the MeToo movement, there’s been a significant increase in opportunities for women within our field. Many fresh talents are emerging, delivering outstanding performances. I believe this wave of empowerment fosters an invigorating environment where individuals confidently express their views, which serves as an inspiration to others.

Currently, women are expressing themselves powerfully, and this has been instrumental in helping me understand my value and find my own voice as well.

At present, Kate is touring to promote the film titled “Lee,” which is a biographical drama that chronicles the life of American ex-model Lee Miller. Notably, this woman captured significant historical moments during World War II through her photography, which were later published in Vogue magazine.

In the leading part, played by Kate, we have Lee, along with an impressive ensemble that includes Josh O’Connor, Marion Cotillard, Andy Samberg, and Alexander Skarsgard.

In September 2023, Lee made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival, and it’s set to open in UK movie theaters on September 13.
