Plenty of Oscar nominees hit MPTF’s 24th Annual ‘Night Before’ benefit on Saturday.
Pamela Abdy, Michael De Luca, Kate Hudson, and Michael B. Jordan co-hosted the yearly event, which successfully raised more than $4 million.
Hudson and Jordan were clearly enjoying themselves, posing for lots of pictures and laughing along the way.
According to Hudson, this amazing group provides vital financial support and a range of other helpful services to people in our industry during difficult times.
This is a fantastic chance to recognize all of our successes and help a cause that will benefit our community for years to come.
The event’s host committee for the 24th annual ‘Night Before’ included Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, Jacob Elordi, Regina Hall, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Damson Idris, Chase Infiniti, and Felicity Jones.
I was so thrilled to see such an incredible cast! Delroy Lindo and Nashormeh Lindo were fantastic, alongside Wunmi Mosaku, Wagner Moura, and the always amazing Stellan Skarsgård with his daughter Megan Everett-Skarsgård. Plus, Teyana Taylor, Rita Wilson, and, of course, Tom Hanks! And to top it all off, Chloé Zhao was involved – a truly impressive group of talent!
The money raised will allow MPTF to keep offering important assistance and resources to people who work or have worked in the entertainment industry.
Over the last six years, MPTF has consistently stepped up to provide support during challenging times, including the pandemic, industry shutdowns, wildfire recovery, on-set difficulties, and personal emergencies.
Honestly, it breaks my heart to think about the people who make the movies and shows we all love sometimes struggling just to get by. These aren’t glamorous Hollywood types, but the actual crew – the people working gig to gig, and their families. Even when things are good, a sudden illness or lost job can mean they’re facing eviction, can’t afford groceries, or are buried in medical bills. That’s why the Motion Picture & Television Fund is SO important. They’re a real lifeline, offering emergency financial help and a dedicated team to support these folks when everything falls apart. It’s amazing what they do, truly.
Pamela Abdy and Michael De Luca, co-chairs of the Night Before event, shared, ‘For over 105 years, MPTF has been a supportive presence for the people who make the entertainment industry work—providing help when they face challenges. We are proud to be part of this special event.’
As Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca, the co-chairs of Our Night, perfectly put it, the Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF) consistently supports the people who power the entertainment industry – the actors, crew members, and all the creative professionals behind the scenes – whenever they face hardship. From providing housing and financial aid to offering healthcare and assistance during industry challenges like strikes, MPTF is a reliable source of support.
Thanks to the support of our sponsors and industry partners, MPTF is able to significantly help people working in the entertainment industry and their families, fulfilling our commitment to care for those in our community,” said MPTF CEO Bob Beitcher.
This year’s event was sponsored by City National Bank, Delta Air Lines, L’Oreal Groupe, PEOPLE (in collaboration with Novartis’ Your Attention Please campaign), and UCLA Health. Additional support came from Diamond Sponsors including Apple Original Films, Dolby, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery.
Attendees enjoyed a DJ set by award-winning musician DIPLO, who has been nominated for thirteen GRAMMYs and won three, as well as a live performance of ‘Pale, Pale Moon’ by singer and songwriter Brittany Howard.
This year’s event saw a star-studded turnout, including Aidan Delbis, Ali Larter, Anne Hathaway, Arden Cho, B.J. Novak, Chris Perfetti, Christopher Nolan, Colman Domingo, Danielle Brooks, David Spade, David Alan Grier, Diane Warren, Domhnall Gleeson, Dove Cameron, François Arnaud, Gina Gershon, Grace Gummer, Hudson Williams, Jack O’Connell, Jackie Tohn, Jayme Lawson, Jon Batiste, Jon Hamm, Jonathan Daviss, Jurnee Smollett, and Karen Pittman.
The event also drew a crowd including Karolina Wydra, Kate Beckinsale, Kiernan Shipka, Krys Marshall, Kumail Nanjiani, Kyle MacLachlan, Lamorne Morris, Lara Spencer, Li Jun Li, Lisa Ann Walter, Madison Chock, Madison Bailey, Marcia Gay Harden, Maria Bakalova, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Marisa Abela, Marissa Bode, Marlee Matlin, Max Greenfield, Michael Gandolfini, Misty Copeland, Natasha Rothwell, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Odessa A’zion, and Omar Benson Miller.
The event also featured appearances by Patricia Arquette, Paul Scheer, Paul Anthony Kelly, Pauline Chalamet, Quinta Brunson, Rachel Sennott, Renate Reinsve, Rudy Pankow, Sacha Baron Cohen, Sarah Pidgeon, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tom Blyth, Tom Holland, Wayne Brady, William Stanford Davis, Wilmer Valderrama, Yvette Nicole Brown, and many other notable figures.
