Kanye West sued for ‘sucker-punching’ guest at iconic Chateau Marmont… amid fresh backlash over planned European concerts

Kanye West is being sued after reportedly attacking someone at the Chateau Marmont hotel two years ago. The lawsuit claims the attack happened without any prior warning or provocation.

Legal papers recently acquired by the Daily Mail detail claims made by a person going by the name John Doe. He is filing a lawsuit against someone, alleging physical assault and causing intentional emotional harm, following an event that took place on April 16, 2024, at a well-known Hollywood location.

According to court documents, West unexpectedly hit the plaintiff in the face while they were in the garden dining area around 11 p.m. The plaintiff fell, hit his head, and lost consciousness.

Okay, so apparently, after he knocked the guy down, things got so much worse. Witnesses say he just kept punching him, even after the guy was already out cold! It’s horrifying, and the injuries are apparently really serious. I’ve been following this case so closely, and it’s just awful to hear details like that. It’s just… unbelievable.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff claims he didn’t do anything to cause the incident and did not agree to be touched.

The Daily Mail has reached out to West’s representatives and the plaintiff’s attorney for comment.

The plaintiff states that West accused them of behaving improperly towards a woman at a party he hosted, and he repeated these claims on a public podcast.

According to the document, the defendant continued to tell and expand on these false claims during a popular podcast interview, once again wrongly accusing the plaintiff of inappropriate physical behavior towards a woman at a party the defendant hosted.

These untrue claims spread quickly on social media, causing the plaintiff to be publicly shamed, doubted, and made fun of.

The complaint also states that video of the incident doesn’t support any claims of wrongdoing, and actually shows the plaintiff behaving appropriately around anyone associated with West.

The lawsuit claims the events following the incident, and subsequent public statements, caused the plaintiff considerable emotional distress, such as anxiety and embarrassment, and harmed their personal and professional standing.

The document refers to a podcast interview Kanye West gave in April 2024 on TheDownload. In that interview, he told a different story about an incident involving his wife, Bianca Censori, at the Chateau Marmont hotel.

He stated in the interview that a man had physically grabbed Censori while she was on her way to the bathroom, prompting him to step in.

‘My wife is walking to the bathroom at the Chateau and this guy just grabbed my wife,’ West said.

He said she told him what had occurred, so he went over and found the person involved. He then told the person they needed to leave, and emphasized that what had happened was unacceptable.

West also mentioned, ‘Then he began… had to go to bed early – put this person to bed,’ seemingly alluding to the reported incident.

This legal action comes as Kanye West is already under increasing global criticism, and France is considering limiting his activities due to his antisemitic statements.

This news follows quickly after he was prevented from traveling to the United Kingdom, where he was set to play at a music festival that has now been canceled.

According to his office, French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez is looking into ways to legally block the rapper from performing at a concert scheduled for June in Marseille.

City officials, including Mayor Benoît Payan, have also publicly expressed concerns about the matter, sharing their views on social media.

On March 4th, Marseille’s mayor, Benoît Payan, stated on X (formerly Twitter) that he would not allow the city to be used to promote hatred or Nazi ideology.

‘Kanye West is not welcome at the Vélodrome, our temple of living together and of all Marseillais’

British authorities had already banned West from entering the UK before he was set to perform at the Wireless Festival in London this July.

Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister, stated that West shouldn’t have been asked to perform and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to fighting antisemitism.

Several sponsors, including Pepsi, also pulled their backing from the event.

West stated he was open to talking with members of the UK Jewish community, but the planned discussion never took place.
