Kamala Harris Aims Jibe at Donald Trump During Surprise SNL Appearance

As a longtime political observer and comedy enthusiast who has watched Saturday Night Live (SNL) since the days of Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd, I must say that Kamala Harris‘s surprise appearance on SNL was nothing short of electrifying. The Vice President’s wit, charm, and ability to take a jab at her political opponents while keeping it classy was truly on full display.

Prior to the November 5th presidential election, Vice President Kamala Harris unexpectedly joined the comedy show “Saturday Night Live” (SNL). Immediately after hosting a rally in North Carolina, she traveled to New York City. Incidentally, her opponent, the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, also held a rally in the crucial battleground state during that same time.

In the “2024 Pre-Election Cold Open” of the November 2nd episode, Harris played a prominent part. The skit opened by revisiting some of the recent buzzworthy campaign moments, with Maya Rudolph once again portraying Harris, and James Austin Johnson, dressed in a garbage vest, imitating Trump.

Next, the scene shifted to Rudolph portraying Harris seated at a dressing table, expressing a desire to converse with someone who’s had similar experiences – a Black, South Asian woman vying for the presidency, ideally from the San Francisco Bay Area. As the camera moved, Harris was shown sitting on the opposite side of the make-believe mirror.

Following prolonged cheers from the audience, Harris emphasized that she was present to underscore for both Rudolph and herself: “You’ve got what it takes.

Harris went on to say, “Since you possess an ability that your rival does not have. You can unlock possibilities, a reference to a popular video this week showing Trump having difficulty opening the door of a trash truck.

With their rhythm and flow intact, Harris and Rudolph, maintaining their roles throughout, engaged in a humorous rhyming pep talk. The SNL star initiated it by saying, “Now Kamala, follow my lead, palm-ala,” followed by both of them agreeing that America needs to “support Kamala and march on-a-la.

After that, they both moved to the stage’s center so Rudolph could announce her Tuesday vote for Harris and share the classic closing lines of the cold open with her – “And live from New York, it’s Saturday night.” Following this, it was time for this week’s host, ex-SNL writer John Mulaney, to step in.

Previously, Harris hadn’t been a part of or appeared as a guest on this particular show. However, during an interview on The View in October, she expressed her admiration for Rudolph’s impression of her, stating that “She’s simply fantastic.

Trump has appeared on Saturday Night Live (SNL) on two occasions: first in the year 2004, and secondly, during his presidential campaign in 2015. However, he did not make an appearance on SNL during the most recent season, or since he became president.
