Judge allows ‘Mormon Wives’ star Taylor Frankie Paul to have supervised visits with son

A Utah judge has allowed reality TV star Taylor Frankie Paul to have supervised visits with her 2-year-old son, who she shares with Dakota Mortensen. This arrangement will continue until a hearing regarding a protective order takes place later this month.

Paul attended Tuesday’s hearing virtually, along with his on-and-off again ex-boyfriend, Mortensen – who is the father of Paul’s child, Ever. The hearing concerned Paul’s request for a restraining order. Paul temporarily lost custody of Ever last month when a court granted Mortensen a temporary protective order. Both Paul and Mortensen are known for appearing on the Hulu reality show, “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.”

After Paul’s lawyers expressed concerns about Mortensen’s trustworthiness and unpredictable behavior – referencing incidents from February and May 2025 – Third District Court Commissioner Russell Minas ordered that any visits between them be supervised. Paul will be allowed up to eight hours of visitation per week.

Minas expressed worry about the behavior of both Mortensen and Paul. He said Mortensen seemed to intentionally provoke reactions, and Paul responded in ways that were concerning.

Both former partners are required to attend a virtual court hearing on April 30th to discuss the details and validity of the protective order Mortensen filed against Paul. Before this hearing, Paul had also filed a protective order against Mortensen.

Police reports state that Mortensen sought a protective order after two incidents in February where he claims he was grabbed, scratched, shoved, and struck, resulting in visible marks on his neck.

The reality star was about to start appearing on a new dating show, but that plan was disrupted when someone from ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ tried to connect the two shows. What will happen next?

It was a really strange time – around when “Mormon Wives” was taking a break from filming its fifth season, a video surfaced of a fight involving someone connected to the show. That incident actually caused ABC to completely scrap the already-filmed 22nd season of “The Bachelorette,” with Paul as the lead. Apparently, the video – which was filmed on a phone by someone named Mortensen – showed Paul yelling and throwing metal chairs. The police report even said one of those chairs hit her child who was watching. It’s pretty wild because some of the police bodycam footage from that whole thing actually ended up being shown on the first season of “Mormon Wives!”

Paul was arrested in 2023 and later pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, but received a reduced sentence if she successfully completed her probation. A hearing in early August could finalize the end of her probation. However, a new allegation – a third domestic violence claim from Mortensen, dating back to 2024, is currently under investigation – and it’s uncertain whether this will impact her probation status.

Disney Television heavily invested in Taylor Frankie Paul, a star from “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” hoping she would become the face of a major show for them.

It’s still unclear how recent court rulings will impact “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” and the upcoming, unreleased season of “The Bachelorette.” There’s no word yet on whether either show will continue – or if “Mormon Wives” resumes filming, if Paul will still be involved. Both shows are produced by Disney-owned networks, Hulu and ABC.

A judge issued an order this week as the situation continues to unfold following the domestic violence investigation involving Paul and Mortensen.

Disney’s reality TV shows continue to face complications. Recently, a storyline involving a person named Mortensen was removed from the upcoming season of “Vanderpump Villa,” which features Lisa Vanderpump and her staff at luxurious European properties. Last season of “Mormon Wives” showed the aftermath of a crossover episode with “Vanderpump Villa,” where stars Demi Engemann and Jessi Ngatikaura became involved in a conflict with staff member Marciano Brunette, who claimed to have had relationships with both of them. The new season of “Mormon Wives” revisits this crossover, with the spouses and ex-spouses of the women – known as #DadTok – also visiting the “Villa” and creating even more drama, particularly between Mortensen and Paul.

The new season of “Vanderpump Villa,” launching April 16th, will follow the cast’s stay, but without focusing on the storyline of former cast member, Mortensen. However, viewers can still see him on screen – he’s appearing in “Unwell Winter Games,” a reality competition series on YouTube that began streaming Monday and is produced by Alex Cooper.
