Joseph Duggar received letter of support from family member while in jail for molestation charges

While in jail after being arrested last month on accusations of sexual abuse, Joseph Duggar received a letter from his brother-in-law offering encouragement and urging him to stay strong in his beliefs.

Austin Forsyth, 32, who is married to Joy-Anna Duggar, encouraged the 31-year-old man accused of molestation to turn to faith during this difficult period.

In a letter dated March 25th and sent through the Washington County Detention Facility in Arkansas, Forsyth expressed their love, according to People magazine.

Forsyth explained that Jesus loves everyone and is always working to bring people closer to Him. He added that God works for the good of humanity, even in the face of wrongdoing.

Forsyth informed Joseph, who was arrested last month regarding a 2020 incident with a nine-year-old girl, that he preferred not to talk about personal problems through messages or calls.

Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for the family for further comment on the story.

Joseph has denied the charges of lewd and lascivious behavior and is scheduled for a court appearance on May 18th. In a letter sent before his release on a $600,000 bond, Forsyth advised him to communicate only with his lawyer.

In his letter, Forsyth expressed his gratitude to God that he and his wife, Joy-Anna, have been developing a closer relationship with Joseph and Kendra over the past year and a half.

I was really shocked to hear that Kendra, who’s 27, was arrested on March 20th. The charges were about putting a child at risk and unlawfully holding someone captive, but thankfully she was released on bail shortly after.

Forsyth believes God prepared for Kendra’s difficulties, and he and his wife are committed to supporting her.

Joseph thanked Forsyth and his sister for helping Kendra while he was in prison.

He said having family like them meant everything to him. He was incredibly thankful for everyone who stepped up to support her and shared his love for them all.

Joy-Anna, 28, released a statement on March 25th expressing her sadness and support for the person affected by this incident. She shared that she’s been very upset and is taking time to cope with everything.

I have some previously recorded content scheduled to go live, but I’m also prioritizing spending quality time with my family. I appreciate all your support and well wishes.

Last month, authorities with the Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Florida arrested Joseph on charges related to the sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.

Police say the incident with Joe happened in 2020 while he was on vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida.

During the vacation, the accused asked the victim to sit beside him on the couch and covered her with a blanket. While they were sitting together, he inappropriately touched her, including her genital area.

Duggar repeatedly touched the victim’s thighs. He later apologized for his behavior, and the touching stopped after that.

Authorities stated that Joseph faces charges related to inappropriate and sexually suggestive conduct with another person, as he is over 18 years old.

Joseph and Kendra got married in 2017 and now have four children, ages three to seven.

This isn’t the first time someone from the reality TV family has faced legal trouble related to underage sex. Joseph’s arrest follows a pattern of similar issues involving other family members.

In 2015, the family’s TV show on TLC was quickly canceled after it was revealed that their oldest son, Josh, had previously sexually abused five young girls.

The show started in 2008 and followed Michelle and Jim Bob, a deeply religious couple from Arkansas known for giving all 19 of their children names that begin with the letter J.

Jim Bob and Michelle shared a Facebook post detailing how they handled the situation when it first happened.

Our family faced a really tough time twelve years ago,” they shared in a Facebook post on May 21, 2015. “As a young teenager, Josh made some serious errors in judgment, and we were completely surprised.

We did our best to instill good values in him. The hardship we faced during that period led us to turn to faith more deeply than ever before.

Jim Bob and Michelle want viewers to understand they aren’t a perfect family. They experience daily challenges and struggles, just like everyone else.

Josh, age 38, is in prison after being convicted in 2021 of possessing child sexual abuse material.
