I was shocked to hear that the former star of “19 Kids and Counting,” who’s 31 years old, finally posted a $600,000 bond and is on his way home. Apparently, a judge has ordered him to stay away from anyone under the age of 18, which is a pretty serious condition for his release.

One of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar’s ten sons, the third oldest of their children (they also have nine daughters), was arrested and charged with sexually abusing a child under the age of 12. The charges involve inappropriate and sexually suggestive conduct by an adult.

The court hearing took place on Tuesday, shortly after the former reality TV star was brought back from Tontitown, Arkansas, where he had been arrested. He could potentially face life in prison if found guilty.

Amy Duggar King said she expected the allegations and arrest, explaining in an interview with People magazine that a larger, ongoing problem was responsible.

What is Joseph Duggar accused of?

A man from Arkansas is facing charges related to the alleged sexual abuse of a 9-year-old child. The abuse is said to have occurred during a vacation in Florida in 2020, when the suspect was in his mid-20s.

According to a statement from the Bay County, Florida Sheriff’s Office released on March 18th, Duggar repeatedly asked the victim to sit on his lap. Throughout the vacation, he also asked her to sit close to him on the couch and covered them with a blanket. During these instances, Duggar inappropriately touched the victim and grazed her genital area, and he continued to rub her thighs.

Authorities reported several similar incidents occurred. According to the sheriff’s office, the victim said Duggar eventually apologized for his behavior, and the incidents ceased after that apology.

Investigators discovered that on March 17th, the victim’s father spoke with Duggar about what happened. Duggar confessed to both the father and local detectives that he was responsible.

Joseph Duggar’s wife, Kendra, was also arrested after a home visit

Kendra Duggar, the wife of Joseph Duggar, was arrested in Tontitown on March 20th, just two days after her husband was arrested on charges originating in Florida. She faces four misdemeanor charges related to endangering the welfare of a child and four counts of falsely imprisoning someone.

KNWA-TV reported that Tontitown police began a new investigation shortly after the incident that reportedly happened in Florida.

Kendra Duggar, wife of Joseph Duggar, was arrested by Arkansas police on charges related to endangering a child and unlawfully restricting someone’s freedom.

According to a family insider who spoke with People magazine, Kendra Duggar’s arrest stemmed from a home inspection that revealed locks were placed on the outside of the doors.

If found guilty, she could be sentenced to as much as eight years in prison. These charges in Arkansas don’t seem to be connected to the separate accusations against her husband, Joseph Duggar, in Florida. He’s been charged with the same alleged crimes. As of Wednesday, neither of them had responded to the charges in court.

This isn’t the first time for alleged inappropriate behavior

In a recent interview with People, King expressed disbelief that this situation was repeating itself. She shared that her grandmother, who has since passed away, used to religiously lock her bedroom door every night when she was a child. Later, after her grandfather’s death, Michelle Duggar explained that the girls were never left alone with him because he was a “predator.”

The Duggar family carefully presented a public image of religious devotion and innocence on their TLC show. However, that image was shattered in May 2015 when their eldest son, Josh Duggar, then 27, was accused of sexually abusing five girls when he was a teenager. Four of the victims were his sisters, and one was a babysitter.

The popular TLC show, averaging over 3 million viewers per episode, ended in July 2015 after being on the air since 2008. It was canceled and removed from the schedule following public reports of molestation, which led to advertisers withdrawing their support.

Josh Duggar’s conviction on charges related to child pornography is the most recent in a series of scandals involving accusations of child sexual abuse connected to individuals featured on TLC shows.

In August, Josh Duggar began treatment just days after reports surfaced that he’d spent $1,000 on subscriptions to Ashley Madison, a website used for affairs, between February 2013 and May 2015. He later publicly apologized to his wife, Anna, for infidelity and admitted to struggling with a pornography addiction.

Josh Duggar admitted to inappropriate contact with young girls, but wasn’t prosecuted because too much time had passed. While the Ashley Madison scandal caused public embarrassment, it wasn’t a crime. However, in 2021, he was convicted of possessing child sexual abuse material and sentenced to 12 and a half years in federal prison in 2022.

In April 2021, Duggar was arrested following an investigation where authorities discovered his involvement through an online file-sharing program, according to the Department of Justice. His business was searched in November 2019, and investigators seized his computer and other evidence.

At trial, prosecutors showed he downloaded images of child sexual abuse from the dark web onto a laptop at his car dealership. A Homeland Security agent testified that these images were among the most disturbing he had ever seen in his career, ranking them in the top five worst cases he’d examined.

In March 2023, Josh Duggar’s prison release was delayed by almost two months because he had a prohibited cellphone. He remains married to Anna, with whom he has seven children.

The show originally focused on 17 children, but the title was updated as the family grew to 18 and then 19. Interestingly, all nineteen children have names that begin with the letter J.

Following the cancellation of “19 Kids and Counting,” a new show called “Counting On” premiered, highlighting the lives of the Duggar children besides Josh Duggar. However, “Counting On” was also canceled after Josh Duggar’s arrest on child pornography charges.
