‘John Wick’ Spin-off With Donnie Yen Starts Filming Next Month as New Details Confirmed

After absolutely killing it in John Wick: Chapter 4, the incredible martial arts star is coming back as Caine, the blind assassin, in a new movie. And the best part? It’s officially moving forward, and the star himself is going to direct it! I can’t wait to see what he does with it.

I’ve been a huge fan of Donnie Yen for years – he’s been a powerhouse in Hong Kong action films for decades, and it felt like it was only a matter of time before he really broke through in Hollywood. Everyone knows him from incredible roles in movies like the Ip Man series, Iron Monkey, Hero, even Blade 2 and Once Upon a Time in China II! Then, he was fantastic in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and most recently, I was blown away by his performance as Caine in John Wick: Chapter 4. Playing a blind assassin and a former friend of John Wick, tasked with hunting him down by the High Table? It was a perfect role for him, showcasing all his incredible skill and charisma.

The Caine movie, first announced last year, is officially starting production next month, according to Deadline. The film has a lot of potential, boasting a script from Mattson Tomlin (The Batman Part II) and Michael McGrale (The Rip), with Chad Stahelski (known for John Wick) producing. Donnie Yen will star, direct, and handle the stunt work, bringing a wealth of experience to the project.

Yen further fueled the excitement around his upcoming project, announcing his ambition to make the ultimate martial arts action movie. He’s setting incredibly high goals – perhaps even impossibly so.
