Next month, Peacock will add four blockbuster action movies directed by Michael Bay. These films, based on Hasbro’s popular toys, have made almost $4 billion worldwide.
Transformers 1, 2, 3, and 4 to stream on Peacock next month
Starting April 1, 2026, you’ll be able to watch four Transformers movies—Transformers, Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon, and Age of Extinction—on Peacock.
The first three movies follow Sam Witwicky as he gets caught in the middle of the war between the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons. The story starts when Sam receives a surprising gift from his father – a yellow Camaro that’s actually Bumblebee, a robot in disguise.
Four years after the battle in Chicago, humans begin to distrust the Transformers, forcing the alien robots to go into hiding. The story centers on Cade Yeager, an inventor down on his luck, who unexpectedly discovers that his new truck is actually Optimus Prime, the Autobot leader. Cade, along with his daughter and her boyfriend, find themselves caught up in a conflict they didn’t see coming.
I remember reading an interview with Don Murphy from 2007 where he talked about wanting to make a G.I. Joe movie first. But apparently, someone at Hasbro Films thought the timing wasn’t right politically, and they actually suggested Transformers instead. It’s funny to think how different things could have been!
The first movie came out in theaters on July 3, 2007. Critics were divided in their opinions, but audiences generally liked it. Currently, it has a 57% approval rating from critics and an 85% rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s also considered the best of the Transformers films directed by Michael Bay. The sequels, however, received mostly negative reviews from both critics and viewers.
Despite what critics thought, these films did very well in theaters. Transformers: Dark of the Moon was the most financially successful movie in the series, bringing in over $1.1 billion worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.
The Transformers movies have earned a total of $5.2 billion from seven live-action films. An animated movie, Transformers One, added another $129 million, even though critics loved it.
