Following the success of Hamnet, Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal are teaming up again for a new film about a challenging and unconventional romance. Given the praise their last project received, expectations are high for this one as well.
According to Deadline, two new actors have joined the cast of Hold On to Your Angels, the latest film by Benh Zeitlin, who was nominated for an Academy Award. The movie is currently being presented to potential buyers at the Cannes Film Festival, which begins on Tuesday, May 12th.
This film, set in Louisiana, tells the story of a dangerous outlaw and a strong-willed woman who guide lost souls. They fall deeply in love just as the beautiful, but decaying, world around them begins to fall apart.
Benh Zeitlin is famous for directing the 2013 film Beasts of the Southern Wild, which was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. He’s now set to direct and write the screenplay for a new film called Hold On to Your Angels.
Plan B Entertainment and Alex Coco are producing a new film scheduled to start filming in South Louisiana in February 2027. Because the project is still in the early stages, a release date hasn’t been announced yet.

Saoirse Ronan won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as Agnes at the 98th Academy Awards in March. The film was also nominated for Best Picture and Best Director.
