Jennie Garth reveals she had her stomach pumped after drinking and taking pills amid Peter Facinelli divorce

Jennie Garth recently shared details about the painful end of her 11-year marriage to Peter Facinelli, which concluded in divorce in 2013.

In her upcoming memoir, I Choose Me, releasing next Tuesday, 54-year-old actress and former Beverly Hills, 90210 star reveals a time when she drank excessively and took so many pills that she required emergency stomach pumping.

Garth overcame his substance use and stopped relying on drugs and alcohol to cope, with help from a stay at The Canyon at Santa Monica, a treatment center in California.

For many years, I was deeply hurt and unhappy, and that pain affected every part of my life,” the mother whose children have left home shared with People magazine on Wednesday.

I started to realize things were changing within me. I just wasn’t feeling like myself, and honestly, I could see it. Looking in the mirror, it was clear how much the grief and anger were weighing me down and affecting my overall well-being. It was a tough thing to admit, but I knew I needed to acknowledge the toll it was taking.

Garth explained that he reached a turning point where he realized he needed to stop holding onto his resentment. He said, ‘I finally decided it was hurting my relationships and my self-esteem, and I had to forgive him and move on.’

In 2024, the host of the ‘I Choose Me’ podcast and the 52-year-old actor from ‘Twilight’ resolved their differences. On her iHeartRadio show, he revealed that his marriage had felt somewhat like an arranged marriage.

Facinelli shared that he likely would have ended the marriage sooner if they hadn’t had children together. Garth acknowledged she could have handled the situation with more grace, rather than resentment, regarding their shared custody of daughters Fiona, 19, Lola, 23, and son Luca, 28.

Jennie Garth, the designer behind the ‘Me’ line, was married to Daniel Clark when she met actor Peter Facinelli in 1995 while filming the ABC movie, ‘An Unfinished Affair.’ However, she and Clark divorced by November of the following year.

Garth famously became a Catholic so he could marry Facinelli, who later admitted he wasn’t even sure who Garth was before they got married.

The Illinois native and her husband, David Abrams – who co-owns Douglas – will mark 11 years of marriage on July 11th. They briefly separated legally between 2017 and 2019 while dealing with the emotional stress of miscarriages and IVF treatments.

Garth explained he thought Dave would be happy with a baby, as Dave was young and many of his friends were already starting families. He felt it was something Dave was missing.

Ultimately, it’s about stopping the need to please everyone else. When you figure out what you truly want from life, things start to feel much simpler.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Fabrizio Facinelli – my absolute favorite! – actually found the love of his life, Lily Anne Harrison, on Raya! Can you even imagine? And it gets better! She’s not just his fiancée of six years, she wrote and is starring in his new movie, ‘Grace Period’! It’s his fourth time directing, and honestly, knowing they created something together? It’s just… perfect. I’m already counting down the days until it’s released!

The star of ‘Bring the Law’ and his 37-year-old wife brought their three-year-old son, Jack, to visit the set of their new romantic comedy about IVF.

In addition to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, ‘Grace Period’ stars Ashley Greene, who previously worked with Kellan Lutz in ‘Twilight,’ along with Seth Green, Matthew Friend, Beverly D’Angelo, and Natasha Leggero.

This weekend, fans at The Nostalgia Con in Houston, Texas, will have a chance to see actor Kellan Lutz, originally from Queens, along with his fellow Twilight stars, Greene, Jackson Rathbone, and Nikki Reed. They’ll be at the George R. Brown Convention Center on Saturday and Sunday.

Garth will begin her 12-city book tour this Saturday at Brookline Booksmith in Boston, Massachusetts, to promote her new book, ‘I Choose Me’.

People can purchase tickets ranging from $60 to $250 to attend the second annual “I Choose Me” event hosted by the QVC personality. The event will be held at iHeartTheater in Los Angeles, California on April 25th and will include a special appearance by her former co-star, Gabrielle Carteris.

Garth’s most recent acting role was as Joan Miller, a worried mother, in the 2022 crime thriller Bad Influence directed by Bill Corcoran. The film was available to stream on Tubi TV.
