Jason Statham’s The Beekeeper Hits Hulu Ahead of Sequel

A recent Jason Statham hit is finding a new home on streaming, just a few months before the next movie in the series arrives in cinemas.

Hulu is adding the movie The Beekeeper to its streaming library in April. You’ll be able to watch it starting April 1st. The film originally came out in theaters over two years ago and was a big success, earning over $162 million with a $40 million budget. Movie fans really liked it, giving it a 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Beekeeper Is One of Jason Statham’s Best Films

As a big action movie fan, I was definitely curious about The Beekeeper. It’s written by Kurt Wimmer, who did Expend4bles, and directed by David Ayer, the guy behind Suicide Squad. The story centers around Jason Statham as Adam Clay, a former operative from this super-secret group called the Beekeepers. He’s trying to live a peaceful life, actually being a beekeeper out in the countryside, when tragedy strikes. His kind landlady gets completely ripped off and, sadly, takes her own life. That’s when Adam unleashes a seriously violent quest for revenge against the people who ruined her life. It’s a classic revenge story, but with a cool, unique premise!

Jason Statham leads the cast of The Beekeeper, supported by Emmy Raver-Lampman (known from The Umbrella Academy), Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting), David Witts (EastEnders), Michael Epp (The Brutalist), Jemma Redgrave (Doctor Who), Jeremy Irons (Die Hard with a Vengeance), and Phylicia Rashad (The Cosby Show).

The Beekeeper 2 Is On the Way

A sequel to The Beekeeper is officially happening! Kurt Wimmer is back to write the script, and Timo Tjahjanto will direct. Jason Statham will reprise his role, and several other actors from the first movie – Fran Raver-Lampman, Jeremy Redgrave, and Henry Irons – are also returning. Joining the cast are Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff, and professional wrestler Adam Copeland.

Last year, Tjahtano told Discussing Film that The Beekeeper 2 will be exceptional. He described working with Jason Statham, noting Statham’s dedication to detail. ‘He really pushed us to make it the best it could be,’ Tjahtano said, recalling Statham asking him to go the extra mile and his own eagerness to meet the actor’s high standards.

The director hinted to MovieWeb that Beekeeper successfully balanced over-the-top action with a grounded story. He also shared that the villains in a potential Beekeeper 2 will be incredibly stylized and ‘genre’-bending, almost like they’ve stepped straight out of an anime or manga comic.

Stream The Beekeeper on Hulu , while The Beekeeper 2 will be released in theaters on Jan. 15, 2027.
