Jamie Bell unveils his character’s Peaky Blinders haircut as he is seen on set for the first time after he was unveiled as the acclaimed gangster drama’s new lead

Jamie Bell was seen on the set of Peaky Blinders in Birmingham for the first time this past Saturday, shortly after it was announced he would be the show’s new star.

The 40-year-old actor will play the role of Duke Shelby, Tommy Shelby’s son, in a new story taking place a decade after the end of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.

Not only did he step into Cillian Murphy’s role, but he also got a similar, old-fashioned haircut.

Jamie looked the part for the 1950s show, sporting a stylish three-piece suit, a long navy coat, and a noticeable fedora.

The actor was seen shooting scenes where his character drives up to a building called ‘Shelby Construction’ in a jaguar.

The set was designed to look like the correct time period, and the other actors were wearing costumes too, with a lot of them dressed as police officers. This hinted that Jamie’s character had a lot of challenges coming up.

The casting for the show, which will air on BBC and Netflix, was announced on Thursday night.

Jamie will be joined by Charlie Heaton, known for his role in Stranger Things, Jessica Brown Findlay from Downton Abbey, Lashana Lynch (who starred in The Day of The Jackal and No Time to Die), and West End performer Lucy Karczewski.

He became famous at the young age of 14 after winning a BAFTA for his performance in the comedy-drama Billy Elliot, directed by Stephen Daldry.

Following the success of Billy Elliot in 2000, Jamie Bell starred in several other films, including King Kong, Jumper, The Adventures of Tintin, Rocketman, and All Of Us Strangers.

The popular series will be back on BBC and Netflix, continuing the Shelby family saga with a new generation, as written and created by Steven Knight.

The Peaky Blinders TV show concluded in the 1930s, and the planned movie takes place during World War II. Any future series would therefore be set years later.

The latest episodes are set in the 1950s, a period marked by the emergence of violent youth gangs like the Teddy Boys and the beginning of the notorious Kray twins’ criminal activity in London.

Steven expressed his excitement about the future of Peaky Blinders, revealing that the show will continue with a new storyline set in Birmingham after the war, in the early 1950s.

We’re thrilled to have Jamie Bell join the cast as Duke Shelby, Tommy Shelby’s eldest son, alongside Charlie Heaton. Expect more cast announcements soon, as Peaky Blinders is back in production.

The latest installment of Peaky Blinders is set a decade after World War II, and focuses on the fierce competition to rebuild Birmingham, a struggle that quickly becomes incredibly intense and almost legendary.

This city offers incredible chances alongside serious risks. At the center of it all is Duke Shelby (Jamie Bell)—he’s experienced, driven, and now more of a threat than ever before.

Jamie will take on the role of Duke after Barry Keoghan played Tommy’s son in The Immortal Man.

Two new series have been with Lashana, 38, also seen filming on set in Birmingham this week.

Peaky Blinders aired from 2013 to 2022 and told the story of the Shelby family, starting in 1919 and continuing through the 1920s and 30s.

Steven Knight, the creator and writer of Peaky Blinders, expressed his excitement about the show’s continuation, announcing a new phase in the story.

The story will once again be set in Birmingham, focusing on the city’s recovery after being heavily bombed during World War II.

‘The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.’

According to a source close to the show, the sixth season was originally intended as the finale, and the subsequent movie was planned to provide a definitive conclusion to the story.

I always hoped Steven Knight would return – he’s the creative force behind it all, and he’d been dropping hints for ages that he had more stories to tell. It’s fantastic that he couldn’t resist coming back to the show!
