Jacob Elordi is spotted doing a very Aussie act at a Byron coffee shop… and his overseas fans are baffled
As a lifestyle expert with extensive travel experience, I must say that Jacob Elordi‘s barefoot coffee shop visit is nothing new or surprising to me, especially when it comes to coastal Australia. In fact, I’ve seen more than a few tourists get caught up in this common Aussie tradition. It’s all part of the laid-back lifestyle here!
It was discovered that Jacob Elordi engaged in a distinctly Aussie activity during his visit to a coffee shop close to Byron Bay.
It’s said that the 27-year-old actor from Brisbane, now based in Hollywood, made an unassuming trip to a popular local venue during his recent visit to Australia this week, according to reports.
Blayne Hull shared on TikTok a video he asserted depicted the actor exiting a coffee shop.
To be completely honest, there was one moment in that video that left me, and probably many other fans worldwide, utterly stunned. But it didn’t come as a surprise to those of us living down under, for we’re well accustomed to seeing him engage in such traditions.
In the video, it appears that the individual assumed to be Jacob strolled around the café without any footwear, leaving his shoes behind. This unusual behavior sparked quite a reaction among Americans.
In the comment area, some enthusiasts expressed their surprise, with one stating: ‘Australia’s no-shoes rule still amazes me.’
Another said: ‘Barefoot??????’ while a third penned: ‘He’s not even wearing shoes, you’re good.’
A fourth commented: ‘Wait the no shoes thing was serious?’ and another added: ‘If someone came up to me with no shoes I’m sorry but I simply cannot.’

Nevertheless, Australians were swift to clarify that this custom is quite prevalent, being observed in almost every coastal town across their nation.
For American commenters – In our cities, it’s customary to wear shoes. However, at the beach or countryside, it’s more common to let your toes be free.
One person wrote, “They’re really surprised by the fact that it’s a shoeless area in this coastal town, as non-Aussies aren’t used to it, but I’m enjoying it.
While a third added: ‘In the Clurb (Australia) we all Fam (don’t wear shoes).’
Other spectators swiftly raised doubts about whether the individual was indeed Jacob, given that he wore a gray hoodie and a baseball cap, hiding his face, during their casual appearance.
However, TikToker Blayne told one doubting fan: ‘Haahaha on my mother’s beautiful life it was.’

In a playful manner, Blayne titled the video as: ‘This morning, I lost the title of the most handsome, bearded Australian at my local coffee shop.’
Ever since the news broke about me and the fabulous Margot Robbie being tapped for an adaptation of Emily Bronte’s timeless masterpiece, Wuthering Heights, I’ve found myself right in the thick of it all – bracing for the wave of reactions that followed!
In Emerald Fennell’s forthcoming production, it is Jacob who will assume the primary character of Heathcliff, while Margot will depict his romantic interest, Catherine Earnshaw.
On the other hand, the choice of actors for the leading roles has sparked disagreement among fans, as some found it problematic that these two actors were selected.
Readers found themselves perplexed by the casting decision, pointing out that while the character Catherine is only around 19 years old in the book, actress Margot is 34 years old.

In the adaptation, the role of the 40-year-old Heathcliff at the story’s end will be played by a 27-year-old actor named Jacob.
Additionally, some individuals voiced their criticisms on social platforms, claiming that the selection of a white actor for the lead role of Heathcliff, characterized as having dark skin in the book, was an example of casting a predominantly Caucasian performer (whitewashing). This choice has faced accusations of racial insensitivity due to the character’s history of receiving racist slurs.
In addition, some viewers voiced their displeasure about casting models who seemed more suited for social media platforms like Instagram instead of an authentic 1800s setting in the movie.
Some raised doubts about whether Director Emerald, aged 38, who was also the director of Saltburn, had indeed taken the time to read Charlotte Brontë’s timeless novel.
