Isla Fisher had an uncomfortable encounter with her ex-husband, Sacha Baron Cohen, at the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party, shortly after describing their divorce as a liberating experience.
The couple, aged 50 and 54, who separated at the end of 2023 and officially divorced in June 2025, both attended the party.
Isla has stated she isn’t looking to date anyone right now, but Sacha was recently seen with someone who creates content on OnlyFans, sparking rumors of a possible connection.
Their recent attendance at the glamorous party might have been a little awkward, especially since Isla had recently spoken enthusiastically about how happy she was to be divorced.
At the TIME Women Of The Year Gala in Hollywood on March 10th, Isla Fisher told PEOPLE she was doing well, saying, “I’m good, I’m so great!”
Turning fifty was something I was really anxious about, but it’s actually been incredibly liberating. And going through a divorce has made me feel like I have the freedom to do absolutely anything I want.
The mom of three playfully said that now that she’s divorced, she feels free to do whatever she wants, calling it her ‘permission to live life on her own terms.’
People seemed to excuse any behavior from me, simply because I was divorced. It was strangely accepted, even encouraged.
Isla looked beautiful that evening wearing a strapless satin gown. The dress featured a long, intricately beaded skirt, and she completed the look with eye-catching earrings.
Sacha chose a white blazer to wear over a black top and pants, completing the look with shiny dress shoes.
Just three months after Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher finalized their divorce, news outlets reported he had begun dating a younger woman.
Okay, so I totally saw pictures of Sacha with this girl, Hannah Palmer – she’s 27, gorgeous! Apparently, they met at Taika Waititi’s 50th birthday party in Ibiza last August. Everyone was going crazy trying to figure out if they were a thing, but his friends quickly shut it down, saying they weren’t dating. Honestly, I still ship them, they looked amazing together!
Sacha dates very differently than Isla, who is currently prioritizing her career and rebuilding her life through work.
Isla recently shared in a heartfelt interview that she’s been quietly working to rebuild her life from the very beginning.
Speaking about her divorce, Isla admitted creating her new home has been ‘tough’.
I’m really happy with how my life has changed. I no longer feel the need to host parties. Now, I love relaxing at home – a warm bath with candles, my laptop, and a good show on Netflix is the perfect evening for me. It’s simple, but that’s exactly what I enjoy now.
She shared with ELLE Decoration that she was moved to tears when her furniture was delivered, explaining it was the first time she’d had a home entirely to herself as a single woman.
Isla shared that she was recovering from the breakup and found the principles of Carl Jung’s work to be a helpful part of her healing process.
Jungian therapy helps people understand themselves better by looking at their unconscious thoughts, dreams, and the universal patterns and symbols that influence their lives. The goal is to achieve a sense of wholeness and live a more fulfilling life.
She told The Australian that, personally, she found constantly replaying things in her mind didn’t actually help her feel better. She emphasized this was just her experience, and might not work for everyone.
After her divorce, the Wedding Crashers actress embraced new opportunities and focused on her career, accepting any work that came her way.
Since stepping back from full-time parenting, Isla has been actively pursuing film work, volunteering in her community, and exploring new creative outlets.
She expressed her excitement about this new chapter in her life, saying she felt lucky to have the chance to completely rebuild her career and loved being back at work.
The actress clarified that she hadn’t lost her passion for acting while taking a break; she simply found that being a mother was an even stronger love, and that feeling continues today.
But now, thanks to the extra time that co-parenting brings, she can do both.
As parents, we often pour all our energy into raising our children, and it’s a wonderful, all-consuming experience. Now that my kids are a bit older and I have more free time, I’m starting to think about my own future and what I want to do with it.
In early 2025, Isla said she was not looking to date again anytime soon in the wake of her divorce.
‘That’s not on my to-do list. I’m not ready to think about any of that,’ she told The Sunday Times.
Isla shared that her parents split up when she was nine, and she’s now hoping to have a similarly amicable relationship with her own future partner, like her parents did.
She described their relationship as very peaceful and loving, saying she couldn’t recall them ever arguing. They always made sure to include each other in everything.
When asked if that was the ‘blueprint’ for her separation, Isla said: ‘That’s the dream.’
