Inzoi and The First Berserker Khazan devs suggest ditching the latest Nvidia drivers if you’re running an RTX 40-series graphics card
As a fellow enthusiast who’s yet to grab an RTX 50-series graphics card, I find myself in the same boat as you – stuck with an older model. Some renowned game developers are cautioning us about upgrading to the latest Nvidia drivers due to potential compatibility issues.
According to TechSpot’s latest report, I, as a fan of the new hits The First Berserker Khazan and Inzoi, have learned that their developers have shared some helpful FAQs and patch notes. They suggest that gamers with RTX 40-series graphics cards should bypass driver version 572.83, released earlier this year, and instead opt for the more stable version 566.36, which came out in December of last year.
Individuals using RTX 30-series graphics cards are suggested to download the most recent driver. However, if problems continue, the Inzoi team advises installing version 566.36 for resolution.
Both the Inzoi patch guidelines and The First Berserk Khazan FAQ suggest the same collection of drivers for specific cards. Currently, these are the primary development groups advocating this action.
Neither set of notes clarifies particular issues that users of RTX 40-series graphics cards might encounter with the most recent drivers. The First Berserker notes mention potential stability problems when using version 572, but they do not detail what these issues entail. It’s suggested to upgrade to the latest drivers for RTX 50-series GPUs as usual.
On March 18, 2025, Graphics driver version 572.83 was released. Afterwards, a discussion thread appeared in the official Nvidia forums where numerous users have been expressing that their systems have been experiencing stutters or overall poorer performance compared to before they updated.
User A: “Despite using the most recent driver for my NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 (mobile), I’m still encountering similar problems.”
User B: “I think this latest update has effectively rendered my HP Omen laptop with an RTX 4080 inoperable.”
However, some users report that their systems remain unscathed. For instance, one user asserts that their desktop-bound RTX 4080 is functioning smoothly while the mobile version is facing difficulties running games efficiently.
Should you encounter similar troubles or simply wish to err on the side of caution regarding possible issues, you can revert to earlier graphics drivers by locating your specific product on the Nvidia driver’s website, then downloading the suggested version that suits your graphic card.
Since updating to the most recent graphics drivers, my RTX 4070 Super setup hasn’t encountered any stuttering issues. However, since several key developers advise downgrading the drivers, I plan on rolling back the drivers myself until a solution is discovered.
