While professional critics haven’t extensively reviewed the period thriller yet, early reactions are mostly positive. Currently, 62% of critics on Rotten Tomatoes have given it a positive rating, based on 13 reviews.

JoBlo’s Movie Network praised the film for taking familiar ideas and adding a fresh, exciting twist that makes it captivating from beginning to end. Screen Rant described it as both harsh and remarkably creative.

Original Cin highlighted the film’s impressive sword fighting, large-scale battles, and the actors’ physical performances, particularly praising Jonas, Urban, and Morrison. They were especially excited by the thoughtful planning Ercell undertakes to protect her family, including building defenses, setting traps, and using clever strategies.

According to The Guardian, Priyanka Chopra Jonas fully embraces the over-the-top nature of The Bluff, even though the film mostly relies on its exciting action and witty dialogue. However, the movie also has a surprising visual flair.

While the movie wasn’t poorly made, Geek Vibes Nation felt it lacked a lasting impression. They noted it had the potential to be a powerful story about finding oneself, what we leave behind, and overcoming challenges, but ultimately didn’t quite deliver.

This action-packed movie focuses on family, survival, and a mother’s powerful love. It’s produced by well-known filmmakers Anthony and Joe Russo.
