International Gallery BEAMS and Paraboot Rework the THIERS With Concrete Grey Suede and a Fat Lace That Changes Everything

Here are the details for the International Gallery BEAMS x Paraboot THIERS EYELET release: It will be available on May 22nd at International Gallery BEAMS and BEAMS. Colorway, SKU, and MSRP are yet to be announced.

Paraboot has partnered with International Gallery BEAMS to release a special version of their classic THIERS shoe, called the THIERS EYELET, on May 22nd. This shoe, designed exclusively for Japan, has been completely reimagined, starting with a new sole. It’s considered one of the most thoughtfully designed THIERS models in a while and will only be sold in Japan.

As a big fan, I’m really excited about the details on these! The sole—called the ROCAD SOLE—is special because it’s only made for the Japanese version of the THIERS. It’s not just a cosmetic difference like a different color; it’s a completely unique technical feature. What I love is that it doesn’t just look good—it actually makes the shoe more stable and comfortable to walk in. International Gallery BEAMS built the entire design around this sole, so it’s truly the foundation of everything else you see on the shoe.

The shoe’s stylish look comes from its VEL.ARDOISE suede upper. ‘Ardoise’ is French for slate, and the color – a concrete-like grey – perfectly matches that name. It feels modern and urban without appearing harsh. This color works especially well with the shoe’s classic shape, making it feel more at home in a modern wardrobe compared to traditional leather versions, all while keeping the shoe’s original character. This model also features two firsts for Paraboot. The eyelets were completely redesigned, with their placement and size carefully adjusted for both looks and how well the shoe functions with laces. Plus, the thick laces – a new addition for Paraboot – add volume and a modern touch to the toe area, making the shoe feel a bit larger and more noticeable on the foot.

International Gallery BEAMS and Paraboot have a long-standing relationship that feels less like typical collaborations and more like a continuous exchange of ideas. Japan often leads the way in reimagining classic European footwear, pushing brands to try new things. The THIERS EYELET shoe is a great example of this: it stays true to the original THIERS design but features a unique sole, slate suede, and construction details never before seen from Paraboot.
