Influencer Ruby Tuesday Matthews tries on elaborate wedding dresses in China as she reveals the stunning gowns you can buy for just $500

Ruby Tuesday Matthews hasn’t announced a wedding date yet, but she’s definitely preparing to get married.

The 32-year-old influencer, who got engaged to Shannan Dodd in 2021, shared a video on her Instagram Story this week showing her trying on different wedding dresses at a shop in China.

Ruby seemed completely comfortable and confident while modeling different dresses, one of which was a stunning, intricately decorated gown covered in detailed beading, sequins, and crystals.

Oh my gosh, it was this incredible outfit – a super tight corset top that showed just a sliver of her stomach, and then this HUGE, flowing ball gown skirt! I seriously couldn’t take my eyes off it. It was perfection!

As a lifestyle expert, I have to say, I was absolutely floored by the wedding dress prices I saw in China! I was browsing a boutique and couldn’t believe how affordable they were – many were going for around AUD $500. It really changes your perspective on wedding costs!

‘Let me show you what $500 in China gets you for a wedding dress,’ she began.

Ruby mentioned that she wouldn’t even bother looking for a wedding outfit in Australia if she only had $500 to spend.

Here you go. They’re not custom-made, but honestly, $500 in Australia barely buys you a glass of Prosecco and a quick chat,” she remarked.

You can try on the dresses here. There’s a 50 RMB (about AUD $10) fee for each dress you try, but don’t worry – if you decide to buy it, the fee will be deducted from the price.

‘It also entails a weird pair of sweaty slides that you must wear when trying on each dress.’

Ruby raved about how beautiful the dresses were, even saying they made her question if she’d chosen the right career path.

She said the items were amazing, and she was particularly impressed with the quality of one store.

‘I was questioning why I do the job I do and why I’m not importing these, to tell you the truth.’

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this dress Ruby wore! It was this stunning, strapless gown, so flowy and perfectly shaped – a real drop-waist style. But the best part? These huge, gorgeous bows right at the hips! I seriously can’t stop thinking about it; it was absolutely breathtaking!

‘Overall, the fabric, and the fit, and the overall design was so, so beautiful,’ she said. 

‘Overall, it was a really fun experience.’ 

Ruby announced her engagement to Shannan in June 2021 with a photo of them kissing.

She gently touched his neck with her left hand, subtly showcasing the beautiful diamond ring on her finger.

She also posted on her Instagram Story, sharing a picture of oysters and a closer look at her ring.

The beautiful baguette cut diamond appeared set on a slender and elegant silver band.

It’s unclear when their relationship started, but she first shared photos with him on Instagram in May, suggesting they were together around that time.

Ruby and Shannan have been engaged for quite a while, but the influencer shared earlier this year that getting married wasn’t her main focus.

She told the Daily Telegraph in February that getting married and walking down the aisle is something she’s always dreamed of, like many women.

Ruby clarified that she wanted to accomplish a few things on her wish list before committing to anything.

She said she hopes to visit someday and would really appreciate having a pool. She also wants to fix the cracked floor and have it refinished.

 ‘I did buy a lounge, not wedding related.’
