Rozalia Russian shared her story about how her enjoyable Melbourne Cup Carnival was spoiled when she fell ill with a troublesome viral infection just prior to the main event.

A well-known social media personality aged 36, wedded to the Melbourne entrepreneur Nick Russian (age 45), publicly discussed her medical struggles through a detailed Instagram post.

The issue began following an evening of partying at the Don Julio Derby Day afterparty, which was held at her husband’s establishment, Bar Bambi.

Look at the transformation in just a few hours! Earlier today, I was at the races looking fabulous in my best dress, all glammed up with perfect hair. Now, here I am…” she commented.

Afterward, Rozalia exhibited an irritating patch near her eye and shared that she was enduring a severe headache. Initially, she chose to disregard these signs and continued with determination during the races.

Just returned from a visit to the physician, as I’ve been dealing with this issue every day this past week, I shared.

On Monday, I awoke with a minuscule rash on my face and an extremely uncomfortable earache and headache.

Did I perhaps overindulge last night, given it was the big Derby night? Or could it be that my skin is reacting due to excessive alcohol consumption?

Regardless of her discomfort, she returned to Flemington Racecourse on Tuesday to immerse herself in the ambiance during the Melbourne Cup, which is a premier occasion on Australia’s social calendar.

She mentioned that she took some Tylenol (Panadol) and Claritin (Zyrtec) to help her disregard the sensation that the side of her face was being stabbed by a sharp object, she said.

As her symptoms grew more severe, Rozalia eventually decided to get a facial. However, this did not help, so she eventually agreed to consult with a medical professional.

Rozalia said she was ‘floored’ when the doctor told her she had shingles. 

She exclaimed, ‘I’m astonished! I thought perhaps it could be a flea bite causing my discomfort. Now it makes sense why I’ve felt so poorly,'” she stated.

Shingles refers to a painful, blistering skin eruption typically found on either the face or some part of the body, often concentrated on one side.

As a passionate enthusiast, let me share some insights I’ve learned about shingles: The virus that causes this condition can potentially infect someone who hasn’t experienced chickenpox or been vaccinated against it. This can happen if they come into contact, either directly or indirectly, with the fluid found within the rash blisters of an individual with shingles.

Rozalia clarified: ‘The doctor mentioned that if you didn’t get chickenpox as a child, it could remain inactive within your body. It might reactivate when you’re under stress, feeling fatigued, or even partying at Bambi until three in the morning – who can say for sure? We’re not here to pass judgment.’

Rozalia mentioned that she’s at least comforted because the virus doesn’t spread, as she was worried it might make her husband Nick and kids Willow, aged 10, and Kingston, who is 8, ill.
