If you want to play Elden Ring Nightreign in a duo, the Seamless Co-op mod is already out, dead simple to use, and it won’t mess up your vanilla save

It seems that FromSoftware may potentially introduce an official two-player mode for Elden Ring Nightreign in the future, but for now, players can only choose to play solo or in groups of three. However, even before the game’s release, Yui, the modder behind the Seamless Co-op series of Souls multiplayer hacks, has already managed to enable co-op play for Elden Ring Nightreign just a day after its launch.

Wes Fenlon, a senior editor at PCG, and I gave it a try, and it functions just as you’d expect – it’s actually a bit more refined than the fantastic original Seamless Co-op. It won’t interfere with your game by attracting the watchful gaze of Easy Anticheat, and it even expands the possibilities for modding Nightreign.

As an enthusiastic admirer of Elden Ring, here’s how I would explain the installation process for Seamless Co-op in a more engaging way:

“To get started with Seamless Co-op, my fellow Elden Ring aficionados, simply pluck the necessary files from Nexus Mods and deposit them snugly into your Elden Ring Nightreign/Game folder. This game operates independently, steering clear of FromSoft’s official servers, ensuring a unique gaming experience that doesn’t interfere with the original game. It even maintains its own save files, thereby keeping Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) at bay and allowing us to explore Tarnished realms without worry!

You should take note of this one issue: The advancements you’ve achieved thus far won’t transfer over to Seamless Co-op, and the same applies in reverse. To access it, Wes and I had to redo the Margit tutorial encounter again. It seems to be a common occurrence when playing, but it’s essential to keep this in mind.

If you prefer, this modification functions identically to the original game. You can still gather friends into a team via Steam. In our experience, it ran smoothly without any problems such as lags, errors, or connectivity issues. It simply operates flawlessly. If you’re okay with separate progression, have a specific Elden Ring partner in mind, and dislike having an extra player tagging along, this mod is perfect for you.

It seems like you found the first Nightlord level simpler than you initially thought, possibly due to having played it for 30 hours beforehand. However, Yui mentioned that they hadn’t adjusted the balance of difficulty at all for the two-player mode. This might be the reason a modder was able to create a two-player mode so swiftly, even though FromSoftware didn’t.

In support of FromSoft: They’re still working on striking the right balance for Nightreign’s single-player mode. Our concern was that gameplay could become unfairly difficult when one player goes down and the other has to revive them, as there’s no third player to absorb some of the enemy attacks. However, Yui’s work continues to be nothing short of amazing. It will be intriguing to see how Seamless Nightreign evolves, particularly if FromSoft ever devises a system for two-player interaction.
