If you keep encountering a beast that keeps defeating you effortlessly in Monster Hunter Wilds, perhaps it’s high time to enhance your armor for better defense. This upgrade offers enhanced protective features and could significantly extend your durability during the game’s most formidable battles.
How to upgrade your armor in Monster Hunter Wilds

To access the armor upgrade system, you first need to complete Chapter 2 – Toward Fervent Fields. After finishing this chapter, speak with Gemma, the blacksmith, who will inform you that you are now eligible to enhance your armor sets. However, to actually upgrade your armor, you’ll have to find Armor Spheres.
While conversing with Gemma, opt for the “improve or enhance armor” choice. This will allow you to tap on items that are already yours and then choose the “Enhance” option instead.
In the thrilling world of Monster Hunter Wilds, I’ve found the armor upgrade system to be quite engaging, operating on a point-based mechanism. These Armor Spheres come in varying values, and the rarity of the armor dictates how many points are needed for an upgrade.
- Armor Sphere – 10 points
- Armor Sphere+ – 50 points
- Advanced Armor Sphere – 200 points
- Hard Armor Sphere – 1000 points
For each armor component, there’s a Level, Defense score, and a progress bar indicating the number of points required for the next level upgrade. To advance, simply spend Armor Spheres equal to the specified value, and you will receive an upgrade. Your Defense score rises with each level, but there’s no extra resistance gained. Enhancing this aspect primarily involves using specific armor sets, decorations, or charms.
