How to unlock Hunter Rank & HR Points – Monster Hunter Wilds

As you delve into Monster Hunter Wilds, your Hunter Rank will gradually ascend over time. However, what many gamers aim for is unlocking this rank completely and amassing HR Points. Once unlocked, the tasks you finish will directly influence your rank, offering you access to an abundance of additional content.

How to unlock Hunter Rank & HR Points

Upon finishing the mission “New Ecosystems” in Chapter 4, you’ll gain access to unlocking Hunter Ranks. From then on, you can progressively increase your rank by accomplishing various tasks, and at the same time, you’ll also begin accumulating Hunter Rank Points.

Prior to Chapter 4-1, your Hunter Rank (HR) will be directly linked to the progress of the campaign. Consequently, any hunts you embark on won’t elevate your HR; instead, it will increment only upon completing a mission that is part of the storyline.

Once you wrap up Chapter 4-1, any excess Hunter Rank Points you’ve accumulated throughout the campaign will be given as a one-time payment. Additionally, if you manage to complete around a dozen hunts that aren’t part of the main missions, upon finishing this chapter, your Hunter Rank might jump several levels. This means that all your hard work won’t go unrewarded. For instance, my Hunter Rank climbed approximately two bonus levels, whereas Bill Lavoy saw an increase of about five, thanks to his diligent side questing and hunting before completing Chapter 4-1.

Which should be your priority: progressing in the campaign or finishing other quests? The decision depends on what suits you best. If you find the campaign missions challenging and keep getting defeated, it might be beneficial to spend some time gathering materials to create stronger equipment or enhance your armor. However, if you’re managing to get past the fights, focus on reaching Chapter 4-1 first, then concentrate on increasing your Hunter Rank later.
