How to remove Monster Hunter Wilds high resolution texture pack on Steam. This free DLC is causing some trouble

Yesterday, Monster Hunter Wilds dropped on Steam, breaking records for the series with its incredible launch. Considering its worldwide fame, it’s no shock that some Japanese firms granted their staff a day off to play! However, things took an unexpected twist when it comes to PC gaming. The game is currently receiving mixed reviews (48% positive), and players are encountering issues like crashes at startup, flickering textures, shader failures, and more. Capcom moved swiftly to address these problems and has already started working on patches, but the troubles don’t end there. It seems that the high-res texture pack is causing additional complications as well.

How to uninstall MH Wilds free DLC high-res texture pack

Similar to Monster Hunter World, MH Wilds also acquired a free high-definition texture package intended to elevate the gaming experience. However, unlike its counterpart, which was generally well-liked, the one for MH Wilds appears to be facing the same issues as the game itself and has garnered mixed reviews.

Users are commenting that the high-resolution texture pack doesn’t seem to significantly enhance the visual experience, but it does lead to significant performance issues such as severe stuttering and a substantial decrease in frames per second (FPS) compared to the game’s standard high settings. At this time, it is recommended to hold off on using it until any bugs are addressed, especially considering its large file size of approximately 75 GB.

If you’ve downloaded the pack and are running into issues, here’s how to remove it:

  1. Open Steam and go to your Library.
  2. Right-click on MH Wilds and select Properties.
  3. Go to the DLC tab and uncheck the box next to the high-res texture pack. Steam will then update the game to remove it.
