How to Recharge Enchanted Weapons in Oblivion Remastered

In The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, one common challenge when wielding an enchanted weapon is frequently exhausting its charges within just a few hours of gameplay. Without the necessary charges to activate the enchantment, an enchanted weapon functions similarly to an unenchanted one, but it tends to cost a bit more.

It’s essential to know various methods for recharging, as it becomes vital, particularly when levels are tough. Every extra advantage could tip the scale between winning and losing.

How to Recharge Enchanted Weapons in Oblivion Remastered

There are three ways to refill an enchanted weapon’s charges in Oblivion Remastered.

  1. Merchant Recharge Services
  2. Soul Gems
  3. Varla Stones

Enchant Recharge Services

One simple way to put it is: The quickest and priciest method for renewing enchantments on a weapon is by hiring a unique merchant, who can typically be found within Mages Guild Halls or the Arcane University. These merchants are easily recognizable when you speak with them, as they display a Recharge Weapon icon at the bottom left of your screen, just next to the Persuasion icon (as shown in the image above).

These vendors require a substantial amount of gold coins to refill your weapon’s power completely. In simpler terms, they charge one gold coin for each individual charge. Therefore, if you possess a weapon imbued with a Grand Soul Gem – which has a maximum capacity of 1600 charges – they would ask for 1600 gold coins in total to fully recharge it.

In general, it’s advisable to avoid using this approach because the expense often outweighs the benefits in many situations. Utilizing this service could potentially leave even wealthy gamers financially ruined.

Soul Gems

Soul Gems can be used to refresh the power of enchanted items up to a specific level. To stock up on Soul Gems, you simply need to employ the Soul Trap ability on opponents and capture their spirits within an empty Soul Gem that matches the spirit’s size.

In the game, Soul Gems – whether full or empty – are available for purchase from various merchants. Mages tend to have the most extensive collection. However, keep in mind that each vendor’s selection is limited, so you won’t be able to buy them in bulk. Fortunately, if a vendor runs out, you can simply wait a week within the game for their stock to replenish.

Varla Stones

Varla Stones are precious artifacts hidden within Ayleid Ruins. When utilized, a solitary Varla Stone instantaneously restores the full charge of all magic-imbued items in your stockpile. This is an economical choice if you possess several enchanted weapons tailored for distinct situations. Even with just one weapon, it still proves to be a budget-friendly option compared to replenishing a completely drained weapon through vendor services and applying a Grand Soul enchantment. Importantly, Varla Stones are unique finds that do not reappear once taken from their location. Consequently, each used Varla Stone represents one less in the game world.

In my gaming adventures, I’ve stumbled upon these peculiar stones called Welkynd Stones, which are typically discovered within the ruins of Ayleid cities. Unlike other stones, they don’t refill your magical energy reserves (Stamina or Health), but instead, they solely replenish my Magicka stores.
