In Monster Hunter Wilds, a fresh feature introduced particularly for Insect Glaive players is the ability to cultivate Kinsects instead of buying them outright from the shop. This new mechanic allows you to “nurture” two basic Kinsect types into a variety of three sub-types each, and then further upgrade these three sub-types into an additional two.
In total, there are 20 distinct Kinsect options in Wilds, although only 12 of the highest rarity will be available to you. Cultivating Kinsects requires monster materials, and because your bug companion is being enhanced, you’ll need to create one of each Kinsect to view all the available choices. Fortunately, I have already done so and can guide you through the process of unlocking Kinsect cultivation as well as provide a table detailing every Kinsect evolution further below.
Raising Kinsects in Monster Hunter Wilds

In chapter two, following your victory over The Black Flame (Nu Udra) in the Oilwell Basin, approach Gemma the smithy. From her menu, select ‘Manage Kinsects’ and then opt for ‘Raising Kinsects’. This initial set of enhancements enables you to convert a purchased Mauldrone or Culldrone into three distinct Kinsects each, at the expense of monster resources. I’ll detail the choices in the section that follows.
Keep in mind that transforming a Kinsect initiates its new shape, thus losing the ability to use its former form. However, you’re able to acquire additional Culldrones and Mauldrones from Gemma, and subsequently, raise these as well.
To advance to the highest level of Kinsect evolution, you need to progress to High Rank and defeat Yian Kut-Ku. After that, visit Gemma the blacksmith once more, and she’ll show you how to upgrade your Kinsect into two additional forms. The Mauldrone or Culldrone’s evolved forms can be further upgraded into three different types, each with two more options. However, these advanced upgrades are costlier and demand additional monster materials. This is the peak of Kinsect evolution.
All Kinsects in Monster Hunter Wilds

As you level up your glaive’s Kinsect, its stats will rise. Interestingly, the distribution of these stats stays consistent – a Monarch Alucanid, for instance, will consistently boast the highest power.
Rarity two Kinsect stats
These two Kinsects share identical bonus abilities, namely Kinsect Boost: Harvest Extract and Attack Boost: Precise Targeting (or simply Focus on Weak Points).
Rarity four Kinsect stats
Here are the rarest Kinsect options available for breeding, as these are your last choices. Each of these Kinsects comes with its own exclusive Kinsect ability combinations.
