Where To Find Locked Chests

As you advance the story and arrive in Kaifeng, you’ll discover a brand new area. It’s full of valuable treasures, many of which are hidden inside locked chests.

Look along the riverbanks for greedy people protecting their valuables, or try the quieter roads for merchants who’ve fallen on hard times. You’ll know you’ve found a locked chest because it will glow gold and require you to play a lockpicking game to open it.

How To Lockpick Chests

Be careful not to get spotted while picking a chest’s lock. Guards might just tell you to leave, but you could end up in a fight if they catch you. Once you’re hidden and manage to open the lock, you can start looting!

The lockpicking game is a puzzle that gets harder as you improve. You have to fit all the lock pieces together to complete a picture, but it can be tricky to figure out the correct arrangement when several pieces seem to fit.

Pay attention for a quiet clicking sound – that means you’re doing it correctly. Once you’ve matched all the images, the chest will open, and you can grab your prize! Just watch out – if the owner sees you, you’ll need to make a quick escape!

It basically pulls all the goodies out of the chest and brings them to you from a distance, leaving the guards totally confused about where everything went. It’s awesome!

You can learn this martial art in Qinghe at Heaven’s Pier by finishing the Foul Play quest. This involves stealing a hidden vial during a drinking contest, which will then unlock the martial art for you to use as you wish.

You won’t be able to open every locked chest with this method. Certain chests still need you to complete the minigame, and Celestial Seize will show a 0% chance of success on those.
