How to get Hunter Symbol III in Monster Hunter Wilds

Obtaining Hunter Symbol III in Monster Hunter Wilds demonstrates that you have fought the most challenging monsters currently available within the game. The uncommon materials gained from this endeavor serve as “Evidence of a fierce battle against a Tempered monster,” and, similar to other valuable items in the game, they are essential for crafting specific equipment such as the Guild Ace armor set.

In the game you play, you may remember the armor that Olivia sports, and interestingly enough, you can also create the outfit and weapon for her Palico. However, since this is an endgame item, you’ll need to progress through the game first. This involves completing the Low Rank missions, most of the urgent quests in High Rank, defeating Gore Magala, and battling some of the toughest Tempered monsters. Once you’ve accomplished all that, here’s how to obtain Hunter Symbol III in Monster Hunter World.

How to get Hunter Symbol III in Monster Hunter Wilds

To obtain Hunter Symbol III, you need to finish Tempered monster hunts with a difficulty rating of 7 stars or higher. These are usually missions targeting the most formidable Tempered monsters, such as:

1. Tigrex
2. Nergigante
3. Lunastra
4. Teostra
5. Almudron
6. Diablos
7. Anjanath
8. Paolumu
9. Tobi-Kadachi
10. Zorah Magdaros parts
11. Odogaron
12. Kulve Taroth
13. Beotodus
14. Barroth
15. Legiana
16. Jyuratodus
17. Tzitzi-Ya-Ku
18. Mizutsune
19. Great Girros
20. Anjanath (Safi’jiiva-afflicted)

  • Tempered Arkveld
  • Tempered Rey Dau
  • Tempered Uth Duna
  • Tempered Jin Dahaad
  • Tempered Gore Magala

As a dedicated Monster Hunter, I’ve discovered that taking on tempered versions of the regional alpha monsters (and Gore Magala too), either in a duo hunt or as part of a multi-monster quest, could potentially earn me a coveted Hunter Symbol III. Interestingly, you can also snag a Hunter Symbol I from 5-star tempered hunts, and a Hunter Symbol II from even tougher 6-star ones.

To figure out if a hunt is 7-star or higher, take a look at the regional map and examine each region to see which monsters dwell there. Each monster has a star rating next to its name in the environment details, indicating whether it’s challenging enough for you to earn a Hunter Symbol III, but don’t forget that the monster must be Tempered. If you find any such monsters, just select them and choose either to save them as an investigation for later or start the quest immediately.

Once you finish your hunt, feel free to chat with Alma and choose ‘Field Survey History’ from the quest options. By doing this, you can preserve the hunt you’ve just experienced, allowing you to replay it for another chance at gaining more Hunter Symbol III. However, keep in mind that there will be a cost associated with saving the hunt.
