How to get Great Hornfly in Monster Hunter World
In Monster Hunter Wilds, there are plenty of monsters to battle, but merely hunting them won’t provide all the necessary materials. Players must delve into the game’s expansive world to discover a variety of resources. These can be obtained by defeating harmless creatures or gathering from specific locations on the map. Additionally, an essential method of acquiring resources is through trading with others.
In the game, there are several Non-Player Characters (NPCs) with whom players can engage in trading. At times, these trades may necessitate offering unique or hard-to-find items. This could lead to quite an endeavor, involving collecting various items, crafting armor for battling a specific type of monster, and ultimately acquiring the desired drop which can then be traded for a specific item.
How to Get Great Hornfly in Monster Hunter Wild
Players can only obtain this material once they have successfully finished the story mission where they kill their first Congala.
In the game, you won’t find the Great Hornfly dropped by any monster or hidden on any map. The only method to acquire this item is through trading with Musharpeye, a Wudwud trader known for his diverse inventory. Among his offerings, players might find ingredients for cooking, sought-after rare drops, and of course, the elusive Great Hornfly. There are four specific items that Musharpeye will accept in trade for this item. These include:
- Bulky Treasure – Obtained from Bountiful Treasure in the Scarlet Forest.
- Sparkly Treasure – Obtained from Bountiful Treasure in the Scarlet Forest.
- Eternal Scarlet Amber – Obtained from Amber Deposits in the Scarlet Forest.
- Fine Scarlet Amber – Obtained from Amber Deposits in the Scarlet Forest.
Users have the option to view their map and access the materials section, which reveals all the spots for Amber Deposits and Bountiful Treasures. By plotting an efficient path, they can expedite the process of gathering everything, thereby optimizing their farming activities.
To create armor pieces for the King Beetle and Butterfly sets, players may need to barter for Great Hornfly materials. It’s advisable to wait until you have armor pieces with additional item slots when farming these locations, which will expedite the process. By the time you reach High Rank, you should accumulate numerous armor pieces with such slots.
How to Find Musharpeye in Monster Hunter Wilds

To find Musharpeye, players should advance in the game until they acquire access to the Wudwud Hideout, a milestone achieved following the defeat of Congalala. Once unlocked, players can instantly teleport to the Wudwud Hideout within the Scarlet Forest. On the map, zoom in and you’ll find Musharpeye among the vendors in this village. A brief walk from the fast travel point will lead you to Musharpeye.
Characters in the game will not always have a variety of items for trade. If you’ve purchased all the items from a trader before, you’ll need to revisit them later. Items like Fossilized Fire Opals can be gathered as you explore different environments, and they can be used once the traders appear in the game.
