How To Fast Travel in Monster Hunter Wilds

Learn essential details on traveling swiftly in Monster Hunter World, including how to activate it, its requirements, restrictions, and additional information.

As a gamer, darting across the expansive landscapes of Monster Hunter Wilds is absolutely essential, given its intricate open-world layout and the refined Investigation system. While fast travel isn’t exactly novel to the latest Monster Hunter installment, it feels significantly more intuitive compared to previous versions. In Monster Hunter World, for instance, fast travel was only possible at camps you managed to unlock across each map. Moreover, fast travel wasn’t particularly enticing in that game because of its compact, tightly-packed maps. It was much the same in Monster Hunter Rise, with minimal travel options available. However, Capcom has simplified the fast travel process in Monster Hunter Wilds, making it a smoother experience overall.

In this text, we’ll cover the essential details regarding quick transportation within Monster Hunter World, including prerequisites, some restrictions, and additional information.

Let’s dive into the fundamental aspects of fast travel in Monster Hunter World, such as eligibility criteria, certain constraints, and further insights.

How To Unlock Fast Travel in Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Worlds’ spin-off, MH Wilds, I discovered that instant travel is available from the beginning of the game. As I ventured across the Windward Plains, my initial fast travel destination was only the Base Camp. Yet, as I progressed through the main storyline, I unlocked the opportunity to create Pop-Up Camps. These temporary fast travel spots can be set up at specific locations in every region, with each region accommodating a maximum of 5 such camps. Besides these Pop-Up Camps, there are designated places like Kunafa Village (Windward Plains) and the Everforge (Oilwell Basin), where I could also use fast travel.

After finishing Low Rank and some High Rank Investigations, additional fast-travel locations will become accessible to you. Fast travel is particularly useful during High Rank Investigations, especially when farming resources from Tempered Monsters. While it’s possible to explore every region without fast travel, using it significantly reduces travel time.

Requirements for Fast Travel in Monster Hunter

To use fast travel, you’ll first have to wrap up the prologue and the Quematrice hunting mission. Once the hunt for Quematrice is done, feel free to roam around Windward Plains and establish some Pop-Up Camps. This rule applies to every region. When entering a new area, finish the initial main story quest to unlock its exploration and fast travel capabilities. Additionally, you can quickly move from one region to another, provided you’re not engaged in a mission or Investigation at that moment.

How To Fast Travel

There are two distinct ways to quickly move around. One option involves utilizing the Farcaster, but it will only transport you to your previous resting place, whether it’s a Pop-Up Camp or a Base Camp. A more efficient approach is to use the map and choose your fast travel location from there. You can also employ the map to swiftly travel back to safety during combat. To do this, put on the Ghillie Mantle first, then, once the monster loses track of you, use the map to quickly travel either to a Pop-Up Camp or Base Camp. Keep in mind that fast traveling between different regions is prohibited during a hunting or Investigation mission.
