How To Complete The Word Is Silent Quest In Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon
Among the various missions in Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon, “The Word Is Silent” stands out as one that could prove particularly frustrating due to its deceptive simplicity. Unlike many other quests where helpful hints are offered, this one provides minimal guidance, making it a challenge for players.
Once you discover the note on the beach, your task is clear: locate someone to hand over the note to. Unfortunately, there won’t be any markers guiding you throughout the quest in the game. However, don’t fret! We’ll walk you through the entire process from start to finish.
How Do You Start The Word Is Silent Quest?
As a fan, here’s my take:
When you set foot on Asylum Island for the first time, that’s your only chance to start The Word Is Silent quest. After defeating the Golem boss, proceed through the magical archway and you’ll find yourself standing on the beach. Take a right turn as soon as you can – you should spot a statue in the distance. A few more steps will lead you to the wreckage of a small boat.
Approach the wreckage, and you’ll find yourself near shallow waters. There, you should spot a narrow opening that runs through the heart of the rocky island. Advance a few paces and glance to your right side. You’ll notice a Red Priest’s remains hidden within a small, rocky recess. The Letter to the Prior lies beside them, initiating your quest. This area is quite easy to overlook; it’s very close to the wreckage, so make sure not to wander too far from the stranded boat.
regrettably, should you wish to embark on this journey and have departed from the beach already, it seems your chances may be slim; from what I can gather, it appears impossible to revisit the island at this point.
Father Vaughan’s Notes
Inside the Asylum, as you explore every cell, you’ll come across the remains of a woman who passed away during childbirth. Should you peruse Father Vaughan’s notes, the Unforgettable quest will commence. This clue is significant because The Word Is Silent has some connection to this quest, although it doesn’t rely on it. Regrettably, if you’re reading this guide after departing the Asylum and finding yourself on the beach, you won’t be able to retrace your steps and acquire Father Vaughan’s Notes.
Where To Find Brother Riagan
To proceed to the next stage in this journey, make sure you reach “The Horns of the South,” which is situated eastward from where you shore up. This is the stronghold where the Keepers reside, a destination you were planning to visit for your main questline anyway. By following the “Shadow of the Horns” quest, you’ll get a marker on your map leading you to this fortress. Upon gaining entry, navigate towards the northeast garden. There you’ll encounter Brother Riagan.
You won’t be able to find Brother Riagan here during the night, of course.
1. Having obtained the letter to the Prior, let’s discuss it with Brother Riagan now.
2. Since I have the letter meant for the Prior, I think it would be best if we spoke to Brother Riagan about it.
3. With the letter destined for the Prior in my hand, let us engage Brother Riagan in conversation regarding this matter.
4. Having secured the letter intended for the Prior, it’s time to consult with Brother Riagan on this matter.
5. Now that I hold the letter for the Prior, let’s approach Brother Riagan and share our findings with him.
- “Thank you, I’ve already been blessed. With tongs, pincers, fire…”
- “You’re a Red Priest. I think you have a pretty good idea what I mean.” or “It must be a long time since you’ve visited the Island Asylum.”
- “Here’s your proof. Is this enough?”
If you accidentally placed the letter meant for the Prior in your hidden box, there’s no need to fret. Simply retrieve the letter and have another conversation with Brother Riagan. He’ll provide an opportunity for you to present your evidence once more.
After sharing the evidence with Brother Riagan, feel free to engage in further conversation with him or make purchases from his store. Note that the quest won’t be completed at this stage. In simpler terms, you can chat with Riagan again. He may share insights about your previous conversation and also mention Katrin, a woman expecting a baby who was seeking medical attention.
If you delve into Father Vaughan’s Notes within Katrin’s cell during the Asylum part of the game, you can select the dialogue option “Katrin and her son perished in the dungeons. I found their remains.”. Following this, you will hand over Father Vaughan’s Notes to him.
Interestingly, I didn’t find it necessary to carry the note with me. In fact, I attempted to discard the note, but I was still offered the opportunity to give him the note. It might be a glitch, but it appears the quest allows for some flexibility about having the note on hand.
Currently, Riagan is about to renounce the church, marking the end of our journey. You’ll earn 75 experience points for wrapping up this mission successfully. If you happened to have Father Vaughan’s Notes on your person during your conversation with him, you’ll receive an extra 50 XP as a bonus.
