If Hong Kong ever decides to tokenize its dumpling recipes, I’m betting Aptos Labs will be first in line with a blockchain-based groupon. But until then, they’ve joined Hong Kong’s e-HKD+ project-a digital currency experiment that’s less “money” and more “money with a side of code.” Partnering with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Hang Seng Bank, and BCG, they’re proving that yes, even funds can be tokenized, settled instantly, and made compliant enough to survive a regulatory audit. Who knew?
Aptos Labs: “We took Hong Kong’s e-HKD+, sprinkled some blockchain fairy dust, and-poof!-investors suddenly wanted to allocate twice as much money. Mainland China: nods approvingly” – Aptos Labs (@AptosLabs) October 28, 2025
The results? A 2x surge in fund allocation between Hong Kong and mainland China. Investors are now apparently more excited about tokenized assets than they are about free buffet upgrades. The pilot also revealed that programmable money is becoming the new black-though it’s still unclear if it goes with your tuxedo or just your crypto wallet.
Aptos Labs also managed to be the only public blockchain in Hong Kong’s e-HKD+ program, which is either a triumph of marketing or a stunning lack of competition. Either way, they’re now the go-to blockchain for governments who want to pretend they’re not entirely clueless about Web3.
Digital money involvement
Just when you thought Aptos was done flexing, they struck another deal-with Reliance Jio, India’s mobile giant. Because why tokenize money in Hong Kong when you can also tokenize rewards for 9.4 million Indians? Jio’s new blockchain-powered loyalty program is the digital equivalent of putting crypto in your morning chai. It’s high-volume, low-latency, and probably faster than your average bureaucratic paperwork.
So there Aptos is, running government-grade money experiments in Hong Kong while also wiring blockchain into the daily lives of millions in India. It’s like they’re playing a game show where the prize is “global finance dominance” and they’re stacking achievements like a particularly obsessive contestant. 🏆
