As a critic, I’ve been following the buzz around Marvel’s Wonder Man, and it’s fantastic to see such a strong response from both viewers and reviewers. Originally presented as a limited series, the show has clearly struck a chord with audiences, and I’m hearing reliable whispers that Marvel is seriously considering a second season. It seems they’re very close to giving the go-ahead to continue Simon Williams’ story, which is great news for fans like me who are eager to see where things go next.
Wonder Man Season 2 possibly close to getting renewed
According to well-known industry insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios is nearing a decision to move forward with a second season of the ‘Wonder Man’ show.
The speculation about more Wonder Man appearances started after reporter Brandon Davis hinted at future MCU roles for the character. He responded to a post by content creator Matt Ramos – who expressed wanting to see more of Simon Williams’ story – by simply stating, “Wonder Man will get more.”
Davis’s social media post sparked a lot of interest from fans wondering about the future of his character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One fan specifically asked if he’d be in Avengers: Doomsday, while another simply asked what information Davis had. Davis quickly clarified that he wouldn’t be appearing in Doomsday. When pressed for more details, he playfully responded with a meme featuring Tyrion Lannister from Game of Thrones, quoting the character’s famous line, “That’s what I do. I drink, and I know things.”
As of today, Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed a second season of Wonder Man. However, Brad Winderbaum, who heads Marvel’s streaming, television, and animation, has discussed the possibility. He told Entertainment Weekly that another season is being considered, but depends on how many people watch the first one. He believes the current season works well as a standalone story, but hopes viewers will enjoy it enough to want more, and that the show will be renewed.
You can now watch all eight episodes of Wonder Man on Disney+. The series was created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, who also led the show as showrunner.
The cast includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, alongside Ben Kingsley, X Mayo, Arian Moayed, Zlatko Buric, Shola Adewusi, and Demetrius Grosse, as well as other talented actors.
