Highguard is making a popular game mode permanent! Players loved the 5v5 battles during a recent test period, and the developers are now adding it to the game permanently.
It’s always great when a game developer pays attention to what players want. Highguard, a new team-based shooter, is doing exactly that – they’ve made the popular 5v5 game mode a permanent feature after initially offering it for a limited time.
Highguard makes 5v5 raid mode permanent due to fan excitement
Highguard, which launched just last week on January 26, 2026, is already proving popular with players. This PvP raid shooter shares similarities with games like Rainbow Six Siege and Deadlock, but offers a unique experience of its own.
Highguard originally started as a game for three teams of three players. The five-versus-five mode was initially only available for a limited time when the game first launched, but players loved it so much they asked the developers to make it a permanent option.
And, well, Highguard’s devs listened.
The game developers made a change because player numbers dropped significantly after the game launched, with many players unhappy with the 3v3 mode. Highguard quickly responded with a plan to win players back, and early signs suggest it’s succeeding.
Highguard boss makes comment regarding player feedback
Wildlight Entertainment clearly values what its players think, and the team has stated that player feedback is a top priority.
Despite a decline in the number of players, Highguard’s lead, Chad Grenier, emphasized that the most important thing is that those who did play the game enjoyed it.
This strong commitment to its players is something other game developers would do well to emulate. It’s already fostered a sense of community, and even people who haven’t played the game are now interested in trying Highguard.
Are you planning to try out Highguard’s new permanent 5v5 mode, or will you continue playing other games for now?
