Helen Flanagan shared that she almost had a romantic relationship with James Argent from TOWIE, remembering a time when they shared a very intimate moment while in bed together.
Rosie, the 35-year-old actress known for her role on Coronation Street, shared the story in her new memoir, Head & Heart, which details her experiences with heartbreak and mental health.
In the 2013 reality show, Celebrity Super Spa, Helen appeared with Arg, celebrity chefs Rusty Lee and John Burton-Race, actor Jody Latham from Shameless, and Yvette Fielding of Most Haunted.
The actress and reality star became close during filming, and people began to speculate they were romantically involved.
Helen remembers a strange encounter in a hotel room with Arg, revealing she had strong feelings for him at the time.
She also mentioned she believed Arg was more interested in her than she was in him, and clarified he wasn’t her usual type, pointing out his habit of eating Greggs sausage rolls for breakfast.
Helen explained that the show’s producers wanted her and another contestant to become a couple and were actively trying to persuade her they’d be a good match.
In her memoir, Helen explained she was so confused about her feelings for Scott that she wasn’t even sure if she was attracted to Arg, despite genuinely liking him.
He wasn’t typically the kind of guy I went for. I usually liked athletic, health-conscious men, but Arg had very different habits – he’d happily eat four sausage rolls from Greggs for breakfast! I think he liked me more than I liked him, though we did share a brief, strange connection.
We were lying in bed in my hotel room, and he was gently touching my back. I felt like things could have become intimate right then, but something stopped me. Once the moment had passed, it felt like the opportunity was gone.
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for James for comment.
Oh my gosh, you guys, Helen just opened up about how confused she was about her sexuality while she was on ‘Celebs Go Dating’! It’s so brave of her to talk about it, and honestly, I was completely glued to the screen waiting for her to share. It’s just…everything about her journey on that show was so real and relatable, and this just adds another layer. I’m so proud of her for being so open!
She shared that she talked about her feelings while on the show, but afterwards requested that the network remove those parts from the broadcast.
In one chapter, she describes the anxiety she experienced while filming a reality show in 2024, fearing her mother would be disappointed by her openness about her sexuality.
Helen said the idea of the video being shown on national television made her feel deeply sad, as if she had failed her mother as a daughter.
Fortunately, the show’s producers were supportive and worked with me to carefully remove the scenes where I discussed my sexuality.
The Daily Mail has contacted a representative from Celebs Go Dating for comment.
While appearing on Celebs Go Dating, Helen surprised viewers by revealing she already had a boyfriend waiting for her back home.
She risked being removed from the show because she wasn’t honest about her relationship with Robbie Talbot, and this was seen as a waste of the production’s time and resources.
Helen told her shocked celebrity castmates and the show’s experts: ‘I think I am in love with him.’
Following Helen’s admission, relationship expert Paul Brunson expressed his disappointment, stating she had not only taken up their time, but also the time of everyone she went on dates with.
We need to understand the complete reason she’s been hiding this information. If her explanation isn’t satisfactory, she’ll need to leave the agency.
Helen mentioned she wasn’t able to pursue dating right now, but hoped to continue working at the agency and perhaps receive some personal therapy.
After ending her relationship with Scott Sinclair, with whom she has three children – Matilda, nine, Delilah, six, and Charlie, four – she began dating Robbie, a 45-year-old former footballer.
Helen and Robbie split in May 2025, one year after they went official with their relationship.
