Fans of a new pop-cultural phenomenon can rest assured that the follow-up is on its way.
The Crave Original series Heated Rivalry debuted on HBO Max in November 2025 and continued into December with six episodes. Based on the popular novel by Rachel Reid, the show quickly became a hit, following the story of professional hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, played by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, and their hidden relationship.
During an appearance on CBS Mornings this Thursday, the creator of Heated Rivalry, Jacob Tierney, announced that season two is currently being written. Production is expected to start in August 2026, with the new season arriving in April 2027. This means fans won’t have to wait too long – about a year and a half – for the next installment, which is relatively short in the world of streaming TV.
Tierney, along with executive producer Brendan Brady, announced that season 2 of Heated Rivalry will be coming to televisions as quickly as they can manage. Brady encouraged fans to embrace the anticipation, saying they should “enjoy the yearn,” similar to what makes the show so good. Tierney had previously confirmed that the new season will consist of six episodes.
All episodes of Heated Rivalry are available to stream on HBO Max.
