HBO Max’s Controversial Drama Divides Audiences & More Shows To Binge This Weekend

HBO Max’s popular, but often debated, drama series is still the platform’s biggest hit as the Memorial Day weekend approaches. Though it boasts a hugely famous cast – perhaps one of the most recognizable of recent TV history – the show has faced challenges this season, following a four-year break. Many believe this season will be the last.

Besides the popular series everyone’s talking about, HBO Max has two other great shows with new episodes out this weekend. One features a well-known reality TV personality returning to her original series, and the other is an award-winning comedy nearing its final episode. With so much available on HBO, these three shows are definitely worth watching this weekend.

Baylen Out Loud

The popular show Baylen Out Loud is back for a third season! It premiered last Tuesday, May 19th, on TLC and is now available to stream on HBO Max. The show follows Baylen Dupree, a young woman with Tourette’s syndrome, and offers a glimpse into her daily life with loved ones, including her partner, Colin. While many first discovered Baylen on social media, Baylen Out Loud is where she originally gained recognition.

Season 3 of Baylen Out Loud follows Baylen and Colin as they plan their wedding, starting seven months before the event. The couple tackles all the real conversations and decisions that go into creating their perfect day. The season kicks off with Baylen and her maid of honor, Sammi, discussing a combined bachelor/bachelorette party, which adds a bit of excitement to this heartwarming series. If you’re a fan of reality TV, don’t miss the season 3 premiere this weekend!

Hacks

The hit HBO Max comedy Hacks is nearing its end. The show, currently ranking as the third most-watched program on the streaming service in the US, just released its next-to-last episode. The finale will air next week, bringing a close to five highly-rated and funny seasons. The creators are choosing to end the show while it’s still at its peak, promising a memorable conclusion.

With the final season of Hacks arriving next week, now is the perfect time to start watching! The show stars Jean Smart, who’s won four Emmys for her hilarious portrayal of comedian Deborah Vance, and Hannah Einbinder, who plays her witty assistant and friend, Ava Daniels. If you’ve been hesitant to jump on the Hacks bandwagon despite its incredible reviews (99% on Rotten Tomatoes!) and four seasons of Emmy wins, consider this your cue to start streaming before the series ends.

Euphoria

For the second week in a row, Euphoria is the most-streamed show on HBO Max globally, making it a popular choice for Memorial Day weekend. While the first season received widespread praise, most critics and viewers agree that the show hasn’t maintained that same quality. Now, many watch Euphoria more out of a desire to stay current with the cultural conversation than because of the show’s artistic merit.

With only two episodes remaining, and a finale widely anticipated but not officially confirmed, Euphoria remains the top show on HBO Max, largely thanks to its incredible cast. Featuring stars like Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and many others, the show continues to have a major cultural presence, even though it hasn’t quite lived up to the expectations of some fans of the first season. We’ll be watching this weekend on HBO Max to see if Euphoria ends with a strong finish or falters in these final episodes of season 3.
