HBO Max Confirms DC’s Latest TV Show Release Ahead of James Gunn’s Big 2026 DCU Slate

Before James Gunn launches his new DC Universe in 2026, HBO Max will release fresh episodes featuring DC superheroes. Gunn is planning a big overhaul of the DC Universe, and we can expect to see at least two new movies and a streaming series debut in the near future.

New episodes of Teen Titans GO!—specifically, episodes 33 through 40 from season 9—became available on HBO Max on April 5th. These episodes originally aired on Cartoon Network between November 22, 2025, and March 14, 2026, and were later released on HBO Max in groups.

The show’s episodes present exciting and unusual adventures for the main characters. One storyline involves them being exiled to another dimension and having to find their way back to their original universe. Throughout the season, they also cross paths with Amanda Waller, the leader of the Suicide Squad, and a different team known as the Bacon Brothers.

The popular animated series Teen Titans GO! stars Scott Menville as Robin, Hynden Walch as Starfire, Tara Strong as Raven, Khary Payton as Cyborg, and Greg Cipes as Beast Boy. With over 400 episodes already aired, the show has been picked up for a tenth season.

Fans can look forward to a new wave of DC Universe projects launching in 2026, all eventually streaming on HBO Max. The first of these is Supergirl, directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Milly Alcock. The movie adapts the popular Woman of Tomorrow storyline from the comics, following Kara Zor-El’s 23rd birthday celebration which takes a dramatic turn when she meets a girl named Ruthye and gets caught up in a revenge mission. Supergirl will premiere in theaters on June 26th, and is expected to be available on HBO Max around August or September.

After the premiere of Supergirl, HBO Max will release Lanterns, a new series featuring Aaron Pierre as John Stewart and Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan. The show will follow John Stewart as he begins his training as a Green Lantern, and will involve both him and Jordan investigating a series of mysterious deaths in Nebraska. Lanterns is scheduled to stream on HBO Max starting in August 2026.

DC Studios will end the year with James Watkins’ Clayface, their first foray into the horror genre. The film stars Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, who is severely injured and disfigured after a run-in with a gangster. He then undergoes an experimental procedure that transforms him into a creature made of clay. Clayface hits theaters on October 23rd and will likely be available to stream on HBO Max in either December 2026 or January 2027.

HBO Max is starting to build its DC Universe with three projects currently in development: Creature Commandos (coming in 2024), Superman (scheduled for 2025), and the second season of Peacemaker (also in 2025).

What Else Is Planned for the DC Universe?

Although the DC Universe’s plans after 2026 are still coming together, there are already several promising movies and shows in development.

Scheduled for release on July 9, 2027, Man of Tomorrow will feature an unlikely alliance between Superman and Lex Luthor against the formidable DC villain, Brainiac. The film will also star Aaron Pierre returning as John Stewart and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. It’s set to hit theaters roughly two years after the initial Superman movie.

Besides the initial slate of DC films, two more Batman movies – The Batman: Part II and The Brave and the Bold – are planned, along with a live-action Teen Titans movie. James Gunn is also developing a new live-action Wonder Woman film, but information about its production and who will star in it hasn’t been released yet.
