Unlike many children of famous parents who quickly become well-known themselves, comedian Harry Hill’s three daughters have chosen to pursue regular careers.
While the children of celebrities like Victoria and David Beckham, and Kate Moss, have all leveraged their parents’ fame into successful careers, Prince Harry’s children are growing up with a much more normal, everyday upbringing.
The 61-year-old comedian and his wife, Magda Archer, an artist, have three daughters: Kitty, 28, Winifred, 27, and Frederica, 21.
Unlike their father, his daughters have chosen careers similar to their mother’s, preferring to stay out of the public eye and foregoing potentially very high incomes.
Because Kitty creates ceramics, Winifred paints, and Frederica works with textiles, Harry hasn’t been able to retire.
Harry, whose full name is Matthew Keith Hall, recently expressed disappointment that his children haven’t pursued careers in entertainment. He explained that he feels he needs to continue working to financially support them.
Harry recently shared a glimpse into his family life while appearing on the Parenting Hell podcast hosted by Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe.
He joked that with a painter, a potter, and a textile artist in the family, he needed to keep working to make ends meet. He playfully suggested they all get regular nine-to-five jobs and even buy travel cards for the commute!
Oh my gosh, Harry Hill is everywhere right now! He’s just launched this amazing new podcast, ‘The Harry Hill Show,’ and it’s not just audio – it’s visual! Like, you actually see things! And on top of that, he’s been travelling all over the country performing live! I’m trying to catch every show and listen to every episode – it’s brilliant!
His children have chosen to stay out of the public eye, and as a result, they don’t earn the high salaries that many people in the UK do.
Harry’s daughter, Winifred, recently shared on Instagram that she was expelled from high school due to poor grades.
Winifred is pursuing her passion for art instead of a traditional job, focusing on building her portfolio, showcasing her work in exhibitions, and teaching workshops to kids – a path different from what her father hopes for her.
In a podcast, Prince Harry jokingly described his daughter Winnie’s simple life, saying she enjoys escaping her small apartment by joining him and his wife on their luxurious vacations.
He explained that his children frequently visit, and they still enjoy joining him and his family on vacation because it’s a luxurious trip.
We love to go on vacation – it’s something we really treat ourselves to. Winnie joined us on one trip and, while relaxing by the pool with a drink and a snack of Babybel cheese and olives, she realized, “I’d forgotten how much I enjoy this!”
‘Because the rest of the time she’s in a poky flat. It must be very odd for them.’
She followed through and shared photos from her luxurious trip to Los Angeles on Instagram last summer.
Harry mentioned that his daughters appeared in one of his recent shows at Shepherds Bush, wearing costumes as Stouffer, Gary, and an ice cream cone.
He shared that seeing them at the show was wonderful, especially considering how he used to try and prevent them from attending. Now that they’re older, he’s really happy they came.
Even though I can’t see her face, the way she dances immediately tells me it’s her. I meant to offer payment, but I never actually did.
I suddenly realized it might be wonderful if they pursued performing arts – they’re all naturally funny people.
The three sisters happily share their art online, but they intentionally don’t post anything about their well-known father.
Kitty sells her handmade ceramics at local markets – including hand soap dishes and vases.
In 2015, Harry admitted he avoided giving his daughters advice, explaining that they likely wouldn’t have taken it.
He told The Mirror that his daughters have mixed feelings about him. They’re impressed he knows celebrities, but wish he wouldn’t do things like pick them up from school or attend school events.
‘As a father I don’t give my kids advice. It’s pointless, because they’ll do what they want anyway.
Ultimately, the most important thing is for people to discover what truly makes them happy – I’ve been fortunate enough to do that. Nobody wants to look back and wonder ‘what could have been’ or feel regret.
