Hard Summer 2024: These Latino DJs are set to spin at EDM festival
As a seasoned festival-goer who has danced under the neon lights of countless events across the globe, I can confidently say that the upcoming Hard Summer is a must-attend for any music enthusiast, especially for those who appreciate the rich cultural tapestry that electronic music weaves.
Born and bred in Los Angeles, Bianca Oblivion – an up-and-coming Mexican-American disc jockey – fully appreciates the significance of her forthcoming performance at Hard Summer, a major electronic music festival in Southern California.
“Clearly, you’ll see diverse headliners hailing from various parts of the globe,” Oblivion explained. “Given my role and background, being a Latina and part of the electronic music scene, I don’t underestimate the significance of this representation.”
Oblivion is one of several local Latino artists set to perform at the upcoming festival happening this coming Saturday and Sunday at Hollywood Park. After a ten-year absence, the event will once again grace Los Angeles, with organizers anticipating up to 70,000 visitors each day.
Kickstarting the Purple Stage at the festival, Oblivion blends together the heavy bass rhythms from Britain with the infectious beats of Brazilian funk and popular Latin tunes. This DJ reveals that she intends to create her playlist inspired by the city’s vibrant music scene.
She expressed, “I can connect with the vibe and power that Los Angeles resonates with me so strongly. I’m simply thrilled to share everything I experience there with those closest to me.”
On the initial day of the festival, other artists lined up to perform include Joaquín, Dina, and Bianca Maieli.
Emerging as a DJ with both Mexican and Iranian roots, Dina honed her unique sound within the underground music circuit, playing a mix of Latin club, reggaeton, and Brazilian funk. She credits her experience at smaller, more intimate venues for readying her to take on larger festivals.
She shared that her upcoming performance would feature fresh, lively tunes with a unique twist, along with some unreleased tracks. She’s thrilled to share only the best party music.
Maieli, an artist from Colombia and South India, intends to blend tech house with Brazilian funk for her debut at Hard Summer. This talented musician has caused a stir with No Nazar, a DJ group she co-founded, which organizes events throughout the nation that showcase music rooted in the Caribbean and African diaspora communities.

Maieli stated, “Currently, we’ve got established artists performing these tunes. However, it’s crucial that we give visibility and opportunities to the genuine pioneers in Latin music – the Latin artists themselves.”
On Saturday afternoon, CC Love – a DJ hailing from Southern California with Mexican-American roots – who’s graced stages at events like Electric Daisy Carnival, plans to spin a mix featuring samples from Latin music and tech house.
She mentioned that there’s a unique intensity in performing Latin music compared to other genres, as if the emotion is amplified. Regardless of remixes, there’s an extraordinary enthusiasm among Latinos for expressing themselves through their music by singing, dancing, and enjoying the rhythm.

If you’re interested in music with a fusion of Dominican and East Coast styles, Giselle Peppers intends to draw upon her roots during her performance on the second day of Hard Summer. This multicultural artist was raised in Paterson, NJ, but has resided in L.A. for over three years now.
Audience members should anticipate a lively performance that’ll have them dancing non-stop, according to Peppers. This set will be richly imbued with the vivacious spirit of my cultural roots and the music styles that shaped my upbringing.
