Director Guy Ritchie and his wife, Jacqui Ainsley, walked the red carpet together at the premiere of his new series, Young Sherlock, on Tuesday.
The 57-year-old director, who also produces the series, wore a stylish burgundy velvet suit, showcasing his well-known taste in fashion.
His wife, Jacqui, 44, looked glamorous in a nude, ruched dress with an off-the-shoulder design as she stood beside him at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall. They have been married for 10 years.
She paired the sparkly dress with classic black heels and wore her hair straight.
The film features a talented cast, including Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who comes from a famous acting family – he’s the nephew of Ralph and Joseph Fiennes.
He’s playing the main detective, and his uncle Joseph is guest starring as Sherlock’s father, who is portrayed as a daring man.
The cast includes Zine Tseng, Dónal Finn, Max Irons, Natascha McElhone, Colin Firth, Adam James, Numan Acar, Rachel Shelley, and Simon Delaney.
Joseph portrays Silas Holmes, the father of Sherlock and Mycroft, who is known for his adventurous spirit. Natascha plays Cordelia, their mother, a talented artist.
Prime Video has announced a new series that tells the story of Sherlock Holmes’ beginnings. Created by acclaimed director Guy Ritchie, the show is a fast-paced, unconventional mystery following Holmes’ first cases.
Young Sherlock will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries on March 4.
Based on the Young Sherlock Holmes novels by Andrew Lane, the story follows a young and inexperienced Sherlock Holmes who becomes involved in a murder investigation that puts him at risk. This initial case leads him to uncover a worldwide conspiracy and dramatically alters the course of his life.
Set in 1870s Oxford and featuring adventures overseas, this series reveals the youthful, rebellious beginnings of the character who would later become the famous detective of Baker Street.
Like a classic Sherlock Holmes story, this series centers on the mystery of Sherlock’s sister’s death. This event caused his mother, Cordelia, to be institutionalized, his father, Silas, to take a job overseas, and Sherlock to be sent away to boarding school.
The series reveals an unexpected alliance between Sherlock and Moriarty as they work together to unravel a mystery, offering a glimpse of their connection before their famous rivalry began.
Even though he comes from a well-known family, Hero recently admitted he used to be ashamed of his famous last name and wished he’d had a more typical childhood.
The actor surprisingly agreed with those labeling them a ‘nepo baby,’ saying it’s understandable why people would make that comparison, unlike many other stars who have defended themselves against the claim.
Hero came from a family deeply involved in filmmaking. Both his parents worked in the industry – his mother, Martha, was a director, and his father, George, a cinematographer – and he also had two well-known actor-uncles.
Hero began his acting career with a surprising role: playing a young version of Tom Riddle, who later becomes Lord Voldemort, in ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’. This was especially notable because his uncle, Ralph Fiennes, was already playing the adult Voldemort in the same film.
Hero Tiffin admitted to Tatler that he used to be ashamed of his famous family name, and maybe still is a little. He joked that ‘Hero Beauregard Faulkner Fiennes Tiffin’ is quite a mouthful.
Honestly, even the name Hero feels over the top. My brother and I would joke about it, wondering what outlandish name they’d pick next – like Batman!
‘But no, it’s a great conversation starter. It’s memorable. I only hope I can live up to it.’
He explained that while he didn’t always feel this way, he now takes great pride in who he is. He used to wish he was more like everyone else, but as he’s gotten older, he’s come to appreciate his individuality much more.
Hero admitted that his success as an actor is largely due to his well-known family.
He said: ‘I don’t feel any sense of it getting my back up. I think it’s so fair.
I got into acting because of my family’s connections in the industry, and I recognize that’s a case of nepotism. I’m very fortunate to have had that advantage, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without it.
If someone questioned my worth, I’d absolutely stand up for myself. But honestly, I feel very fortunate to have been given so many good opportunities.
Hero confessed he used to shy away from the unusual aspects of his well-known family background. This changed when he received the opportunity to act with his uncle in the Harry Potter films.
He explained that he longed for a typical childhood and initially avoided embracing the unusual, artistic side of his family. Then, the opportunity to be in Harry Potter changed everything.
Looking back on his experience in the 2009 film, he admitted he doubted he’d get the part. He felt there were many more qualified actors who were likely to be chosen.
I finally figured it out, and honestly, I was amazed I could. It was a really enjoyable experience.
Hero is expected to become much more popular after taking on the role of Young Sherlock. He admits that while he’s excited about the opportunities, he also values his privacy. He never sought fame and enjoys the simple things, like being able to relax at his local pub and remain close to home.
It would be truly unfortunate to lose the ability to do things you enjoy, or to find them more difficult, without receiving any acknowledgment.
If I were to lose my ability to walk easily, I’d accept it. Playing Sherlock Holmes for Guy Ritchie was a fantastic experience, and I wouldn’t trade it.
Hero also explained to Radio Times that he understands why people are curious about how family connections and opportunities can influence someone’s career.
I definitely owe them a lot – I wouldn’t be where I am today without their help. However, I’m not going to label myself a ‘nepo baby’ online or with a tattoo!
I’m grateful for the opportunity I was given, and I believe my work demonstrates that I’ve earned my place here. I’m comfortable speaking up about my accomplishments and value.
