A thrilling Western film from 2020, featuring Kevin Costner (known from Yellowstone) and Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread), has quickly become popular on Netflix UK. It’s currently the second most-watched movie on the platform after being added just last week.
While still working on the TV series Yellowstone, Kevin Costner appeared in the film Let Him Go. This movie, set in Montana, was directed and written by Thomas Bezucha and is based on Larry Watson’s 2013 novel of the same title.
I just finished watching this movie, and it’s a really gripping story! It’s set back in 1961 and centers around Margaret Blackledge, played by Diane Lane, who’s desperately trying to help her daughter-in-law, Lorna, and her grandson. Lorna’s in a tough situation with a really controlling family, and Margaret convinces her estranged, retired sheriff husband, George (Kevin Costner), to come out of retirement and help rescue them. It’s a tense and emotional ride watching them try to get Lorna and the little boy to safety.
Margaret becomes worried when she sees Lorna’s boyfriend, Donnie Weboy, mistreating both her and Jimmy. She’s shocked to learn from a neighbor that they’ve all left town, and immediately starts making plans to find them and bring them home.
Manville plays Blanche, the head of the Weboy family, and a truly wicked character. She’s a chain-smoker with a distinctive Western American accent, and she’s always got something up her sleeve.
